Who’s going to be in Louisville? Anybody want to meet-up for food and drinks before the concert?

I love Bruce solo, and I think this should be a wonderful autumn setting in the Bluegrass State. Looking forward to the drive up.

    Victor, et al….

My Fall/Winter FIX will begin in Louisville, carry on in Indiana, PA [only 1 1/2 hours from home] and end abruptly in Cleveland. It would be FAN-tastic to have ‘a drink or a few’ with others who understand the obsession.

I know nothing about Louisville, other than it’s 7 hours from home. Hook it up, my BIB[Brother-in-Bruuuce]. Provide the details– W/W/W & H– and I will be there.

    a SIB[ Sister-in-Bruuuce],

PS… Selling my soul my be an option for the rest of ’06. AMEX has already helped with the loan.

    Hey Lola!

You will really like Vic! He’s very tall, very good looking, (but not as good looking as me of course! LOL), and very sharp! You two need to meet! You would really like him! A gentleman, a scholar, and a “Road Scholar” in training!

Vic, how long will it take you to get to Lousiville? I’m about 1 1/2 hours from you. I’m thinking about it! I’m getting fired up! October 8th is doable! That’s the day after the DAWGS & TN tee it up. (You can’t trust anyone who wears orange!) Either it will be a day for celebration or a day of morning. Either way, a Bruce solo show would be a great Rx.

What about you Marc? This should be a no brainer for you from Cincy!

    The Show Goes On! :D

Thank you, Mr. David Day, an esteemed Road Scholar, my publicity manager and personal fluffer! ;)

David, you’d better plan on making that trip to Louisville, because there are going to be a lot of disappointed Dawgs in Athens after the Vols come in and clean house. Following a morning of mourning, you’ll need the pick-me-up of a solo Bruce show for sure.

It will take me about 5 hours to get to Louisville from here, though, so it’s no short stretch. But if Lola’s willing to make the journey, you should too.

Lola, you probably know as much about Louisville as I do. It was actually David who made arrangements for our meet-up in Knoxville earlier this year. I’ll call the venue to see if there’s any place they’d recommend as a watering hole. Can anyone in the Louisville area recommend a place?

So all you SIBs and BIBs out there can remain apprised of the situation here over the next two weeks…

    Hey Vic!

I’ll tell ya what I’ll do. If the DAWGS loose to the Vols (you can’t trust anyone who wears orange!), then I’ll come pick you up and be the bus driver. But, if the DAWGS win, then you have to come pick me up. Consider it part of your training for “Road Scholar” in training. I might even consider throwing in a game tic if you are up for it. You’re always welcome at Days’ End on Lake Lanier!

Lola, I’m a telling ya,even if I don’t make it, you two need to hitch up in Louisville! :D

    Louisville Show!

    Hey guys,

Haven’t really posted much on here before. I live in Louisville and am going to the show. It will be my first solo Bruce show and i am very excited about it because it is my wife’s first ever Bruce show. The Brown is a very small venue (maybe around 750-800 seats) and there really isn’t a bad seat in the house. if you decide last minute to come up for the show tickets can be had (and really good ones at that) at the box office the day of the show. We saw Lucinda Williams there and got 8th row seats about an hour and a half before the show started.

The venue is at 5th and broadway and about 2-3 blocks north of there is 4th Street Live! which is an entertainment complex with bars and restaurants and shopping all included and all covered under a big glass roof connecting two buildings. You can walk around with drinks and go from shop to shop and restaurant in any kind of weather. Just to name a few there is The Pub, kind of a replica of a tavern over in London, if you will. Maker’s Mark bar serving–wait for it–Maker’s Mark. Being that this is a sunday show i’m not sure how that will affect the liquor sales. my guess is it won’t really. They also have a TGIFridays and a Lucky Strike bowling alley, which even has good food and drinks and a nice atmosphere and a Hard Rock Cafe.

Just Google them and you can find out all you want to learn about it. That will probably be the best spot to arrange a meet-up IMO. I don’t think we have plans for that afternoon yet and it would be fun to hang out with some Bruce fans. Keep me posted on what everyone plans to do and we’ll go from there.

Thanks for the excellent information, MoloMoloMolo!

You and yours will have a great time, I’m sure. I’ll look more into 4th Street Live! as soon as I have a bit more time, in the next day or so.

The Lucky Strike sounds interesting. Who’s up for “Bowling Before Bruce”? — a little “B-3” for all the BIBs and SIBs! :)

Hear that, David? Tickets can be had at the door… After much thought, I’ve changed my mind, and I’ll take you up on your bet. The Vols will win regardless.

    Louisville meet-up

    OK, guys and gals,

I called Lucky Strike (502-560-1400) at 4th Street Live, and they said we should be able to get a table and/or lanes on any Sunday evening without a reservation. They’re open from 11 a.m. until midnight and have 14 lanes, so I’m ready for that if anyone else is. I can even sometimes break 100 in bowling, but I don’t want to brag. :) And I’m 76 years old! ;)

I also called the Maker’s Mark (502-568-9009). They’re open from about 5 p.m. until 11 p.m. on Sundays — and they take reservations — so I went ahead and reserved a table for 8. I can cancel if we need to.

So who’s in? And which place would you rather hit before the show: Lucky Strike or Maker’s Mark? I can be at either place by about 4:30 p.m. — that will give us 2 good hours before the show starts.

Here’s a nice review of 4th Street Live: http://www.iglou.com/restaurants/4sl.shtml . For directions, check http://www.4thstlive.com . As brother Day would say, “Let’s get fired up! I’m a tellin’ ya!!!”

Okay, this is starting to sound like an event not to be missed.
Roll call, please, of who all are going.
Mommy and Daddy live in Scott County, TN, and little brother lives in Williamsburg, KY, so I think I may just have to check out this little shindig.
AND I usually bowl around 175.
AND I drink my Maker’s Mark straight.

Here all along I thought you were just little ole Miss Virginia Former. Little did I know that you had this special talent! You need to go and eat Vic’s lunch! He says he can’t break 100, but you just can’t trust anyone who wears orange! I’m a telling ya!

    Hey Vic!

On a lighter note, I don’t think I’ll be able to make it. We had to put my mother back in the hospital and it’s not good. Can’t make any plans at the moment. The way it is going right now, I don’t think I’ll even be able to make the game. I was looking forward to having you come pick me up and be the bus driver, but can’t commit at the present. Maybe things will change for the better next week. :(

My best shot right now is Spartanburg. Will let you know if things change.

Even though I’m sort of down at the moment……

    Bruuuce!

That always picks me up! :D

First off, David, hope your mom gets well and soon. We’ll keep her in our thoughts and prayers.

As far as meeting up, whatever the consensus wants to do is fine by us. We’ll probably eat before we come downtown because my wife is newly pregnant and restaurant food isn’t really going to cut it for her. I’d be up for bowling a game or two if everyone shows interest in that. Not sure if my wife will participate, but if she feels up to we may. That’s my thoughts on it, but also our attendance to the meet-up will depend on how she feels that day. It may be all she can do to go to the concert that night. We’ll have to see. I’ll be watching the board all week and will check it Sunday before we head out to see where everyone wants to meet.

Hey molomolomolo! By chance do you go to SE CC? My first cousin is on staff there.

At the end of the day, when the sun is setting and the cows are coming home, there is no place I would rather be!

    Bowling Before Bruce

Sounds like it’s going to be “Bowling Before Bruce” at the Lucky Strike at 4th Avenue Live, which is only a couple blocks away from the Brown Theatre. I’ll be there at about 4:30 p.m. Just holler “BRUUUCE!!!” and I’ll answer. We can eat/drink/bowl to our hearts’ content.

So far, I think we have five-and-a-half probable attendees:
    — Victor
    — Lola Pelusa
    — Miss Virginia Former, the bowling queen
    — MoloMoloMolo
    and
    — MMM’s better half with baby-on-board

Even if MMM’s wife sits out the bowling, we’ve got two good bowling teams if everybody’s interested.
Of course, the more the merrier; anybody else want to meet us at the Lucky Strike before the Louisville show?
Maybe we can kidnap Bruce and take him to the Maker’s Mark for post-show musings … :)

    Bowling Before Bruce

David, that should be money in the bank. I was once a great bowler, but as the board’s only septuagenarian, I’ve lost my touch a bit.

Anybody want to confirm their attendance at the first annual “B3” party — Bowling Before Bruce? Anybody want to be added to the list? Anybody? Anybody? … Bueller?

And in case you don’t want to shout “Bruuuce!!!” throughout the Lucky Strike, my bio is now posted on “Pen Pics,” so everybody can get an idea of what I look like before the meet-up! :)

BIBs, SIBs and FOBs [Fans of Bruuuce] in general…

It’s official… the tickets are bought, reservations have been made, the car has been serviced, routes have been mapped, the stitches removed… We will be traveling soon!!

David, do put your $$$ on Ms. VA, Former. Lola has not bowled since she stopped drinking bourbon [ a story for another time ].

So, Victor, MoMoMolo and Mrs., bowl amongst yourselves. However, Lola will VOLunteer to be, a-hem, the ball-handler, and possibly, the serving wench. Let the games begin!!!

    LOL,Always,
    Lola

PS…. David, How is your mom? Please, update and extend our best regards.

Another Road Scholar in Training! :D

Thanks for asking, but mom is not doing so well. She made it again this time and may get out of the hospital today. She will be bed ridden and have two nurses come each day. Her quality of life is so poor, it would be better if she went home. I’ve had my hands full commuting each day to Atlanta and trying to run a business. My older brother (I’m better looking than him! 😆 ) and I have been taking shifts each day. Will continue to take shifts until she gets settled back at home.

I hope you guys have a wonderful time in Lousiville!

    David, we’re thinking of you.

Louisville crew, have a safe trip. I’ll be at the Lucky Strike by about 4:30… ask for the Hornsby party.

Can’t hardly wait. Lola, you can be my ball handler/serving wench any time! ;)

    Bad news, guys. :(
For reasons that I can’t even begin to go into, I have to be back at work bright and early Monday morning. Since the commute time from Podunk, NC to Louaahhville,KY is something like 6-7 hours, there’s just no way I can hump it back in time. 😥
Good news is that I will be in Williamsburg, VA Oct. 12-15, and I’m going to try to stop in and say hey to Mama Hornsby. And I’m still gonna try for the Spartanburg show. No bowling, but maybe a few friends.
