Fantastic….first hornsby solo show I saw and I was blown away….His freehand style is amazing.

Si I saw you standing on the side of the truck before the show chatting away with some other board members….I was sitting on the ledge diagonal from you with my girlfriend…

Bruce played some great tunes such as Circus On The Moon, Country Doctor, End Of The Innocence, Danny Boy, Goldberg Variations, Valley Road, etc….

The venue was a beautiful place and Bruce kept referring to us as “people of the ethical culture”…I laughed every time…

By the way, he’s one tall mother f

…..Up close I got to actually see hwo tall he was (I was fourth row)

Saw Doug Derryberry in the audience, that was nice of him to show up….I heard people chatting about JT being there but I couldn’t find him.

    Great night had by all….

I must say one thing though to everyone reading this….If you go to a Hornsby show do two things:

    1. Clap ON TEMPO
    2. Stop yelling Jack Straw, he won’t play it and it’s just damn annoying to hear you drunk people screaming it out loud.

    Take Care

    Kyle

PS – I have some video clips and pictures from tonight…I don’t know how to post them here on the message board. Maybe someone can help me. Thanks!

Yup, it was a great show.

Impeccably behaved crowd… not one person yelled for anything in the entire first set. Bruce was compelled to mention the great vibe a couple of times.

It’s funny that people thought they saw JT – he wasn’t there. Almost certainly it was one of the venue staff they noticed, who even Bruce commented before the show looked like him – eerily so.

    NYC concert

Si – I have to agree a great great concert, already gave it 5 stars. I must say I was gun shy after the Oyster Bay debacle. Worried about what someone would shout out – something stupid – the closest thing to that though was the guy yelling out at the top of his lungs for “WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED TO ME” . It took nerve to shout it out and Bruce handled it well. He had a sense of humor on stage and came back with some great one liners. He was really relaxed I thought.

Did not “see” JV but I did see Doug D in the lobby came right through the front door like any other paying fan. I stopped him and spoke to him for a minute as he was with his girlfriend(?). I also noticed him coming from backstage during the intermission.

Even though we were in the balcony the sound was just great. We lucked out also as we were only 5 rows up to left of center and could watch his “hand work” all night.
All in all one of the best!!!

Gee, I wish that I could say the same thing. I sat in the upper balcony and was beyond annoyed at how bloody RUDE people can be:

    – Talking. Talking!?!?!
    – Multiple people getting up multiple times to replenish multiple drinks (disrupting others with “EXCUSE ME” as they force people to get out of their seats so that they can navigate their way through the row with their precariously-balanced beverages)
    – Cell phone going off!! (I could understand that happening in 1993, but THIS IS 2006! ARE PEOPLE THAT STUPID THAT THEY STILL NEED THIS EXPLAINED TO THEM?!?)
    – The teenage girl’s cell phone glowing brightly while she texted people (“OMG IM AT THE HORNSBY CONCERT!!!111! LOLZ!!”)
    – The pre-teen girl passing notes to her father, LOUDLY tearing sheets off of the pad that she writing on. ***RRRRRRRRRRRIP!!!!!!***
    – More than one person making noise as they opened their box set DURING THE PERFORMANCE. Were they going to put the CDs on? Were they going to watch the DVD? What was that about? I’m just sorry that the guy on stage was distracting them with his piano playing.
    – People opening candy wrappers s-l-o-w-l-y, which they don’t realize is actually more distracting than just getting it over with.

I’m so irritated at how thoughtless people can be. I’m glad that there was a boxset giveaway, because this experience reminded me why I don’t shell out money to go to concerts anymore. When Bruce scowled and grumbled at the door slam during a particularly quiet song, I was right there with him.

Decent performance, but the crowd (where I was sitting) were #$%(s

The door slam was my father….He made a mistake, wanna fight about it, email me and we can take this further.

    Watch it buddy. Watch it.

Calm down and grow up. Like I said, the door slam came after I had sat through all of the other behavior. Perspective is everything?

“Watch it buddy?” “Wanna fight about it? What are you, 12 years old? 🙄

EDIT: Bruce was just as annoyed – did you challenge him to a fight as well? 😆

    OK

You stick a couple hundred people in a room, your gonna get noise that people agree with and people disagree with.

John Cage, a composer from many years ago (I’m sure your mind hasn’t got a clue), wrote a piece in which he walked onstage in front of hundreds, sat at a piano and played nothing. He sat there in silence to show the people of the crowd that it’s extremely difficult to remain completely silent for a couple hours.

I’m not 12 years old asshole.

I’m sure you moved around in your seat a couple times and made some noise. Oh but y ou’re untouchable right?

    Pointless post.

Don’t go to concerts anymore because I can’t stand people like you who bitch and moan all the time. Everything has to be perfect. Always.

    Um, yes.

Thanks for Music History 101, but I don’t see the relevance.

Challenging someone to a fight over a legitimate observation suggests a hormonal imbalance of some sort, so I’ll guess you’re in your teens.

I didn’t TALK or TEAR PAPER, or LET MY CELLPHONE RING.

Well, you’re clearly the expert on these matters.

Look, common courtesy is different from perfection. When you grow up, you’ll understand that things aren’t so black and white. In the meantime, don’t be so quick to shout people down when they point out a negative experience. No, I’m not so unreasonable to think that people can’t move or breathe during a show (and I don’t think that I’m perfect or untouchable, thanks very much), but I do think that people can be more mindful about creating disruptions that can be otherwise be avoided (everything I listed could have waited until intermission).

There’s no need to be so aggressive with me, either.
