KeymasterHi all,
I’m looking to make some changes to this site, to keep all of you happy and coming back regularly.
So I’d like to know what you want on Bruuuce.com!
I’ve given you some ideas to mull over, but you can always add your opinion by posting a message below. Some of the suggestions are deliberately ambiguous, to prompt a bit of discussion. And I know you can only vote for one option, but I’d like an idea of priorities.
Sock it to me! … new ideas are always welcome.
Alternatively, you can e-mail me at mailto:simontwining@yahoo.co.uk

ParticipantSi,
I love the site and can’t find much to improve upon. Your choice of daily doses and news are excellent. What I would like is to be able to connect with my fellow Bruce fans (besides the forums) with a streaming chat feature as well as more contests and polls.
Thanks,
Larry

GuestSi…you must be kidding, right? Site improvements!! You already give us setlists, daily doses, concert reviews, photos, interviews, polls, plus YOUR TIME!!
I’m appreciative that you just keep this going. But if you’re looking for suggestions, here goes:
1. Concert meet and greets….having Bruuuce.com fans get together is something that I’d like to do. Normally when I get to shows, I head out to the local bar or pub and get a quick meal; but I would like to meet others…maybe even a band member or two! I know you’ve suggested this in the past and have done it, so I’m just asking that this continue to be pushed.
2. Special offers….last year you let us know about the Biltmore show early. Any types of concert dates, early ticket passwords for shows, etc… would be appreciated.
Once again, thanks for the forum and opportunity to suggest….you do an incredible job with this and I’m (as well as many others) very appreciative. Thank you.

ParticipantKnowledge Base
I would be interested in making and using some kind of knowledge base where information about things like lyrics and authors of songs that Bruce covers, about what inspired Bruce to write particular songs, and many other things could be found. For example, I like The Annotated Grateful Dead Lyrics project and this fan site of John Cale.

ParticipantSimon! The site is very cool! Please don’t cange too much. If should ask for something, it would be more quizzes and polls. name that tune and such things.

ParticipantSi, while not a frequent poster, I visit daily (and had the pleasure of meeting you in Dallas in 05) and have to echo the sentiments that it’s a great site as is.

ParticipantLove the site – I visit every day! My only suggestion would be for the setlist section to include all concerts (date and place) whether there is a setlist for it or not. That way it would serve as a history of all appearances.

ParticipantSi, I like the site just the way it is! Although the idea of a streaming chat feature does sound interesting… My favorite thing on this site is,of course, the daily dose. Old or new, I love them all. Thanks for taking the time to keep us akk well-informed and entertained.

ParticipantHi Si,
We briefly met in 2002(?) when I got backstage in Hyannis and you were nice enough to get Bruce’s attention so I could get a photo with him that still hangs in my house to this day.
As others have repeatedly said I think you already do a FANTASTIC job and no real “improvements” are necessary.
BUT if I had one sugesstion it would be if you could find new ways to get us closer to Bruce and all of the guys in the band. A great example is the phone chat with Bruce you have up on the site. Maybe you could do that with Bruce once or twice a year and also with the other guys? Also you must have some great stories while following the band and actaully hanging out with them. Maybe even the guys in the band would be occasionaly willing to contribute some stories like JV posts in his diary on his website? I have no idea of the logistics involved but you asked for ideas and that is my 2 cents.
Regardless, thanks again for all of your hard work as I know there are many of us out here that you never/rarely speak with but we “lurk” on your site on a daily basis. Thanks,

KeymasterThanks all for the suggestions so far. Please keep them coming.
Thanks for the kind words also, but anything can always be improved if you work at it. There are always things that can be added.
The comments here, and in e-mails, suggest you want some more interaction with the site and each other. I do wonder how people feel generally, though, as only seven people have voted on the above poll , which has been advertised on the front page for days. So, I’ll leave this up for a while yet.
Like I say, keep your suggestions coming!
– Si.

ParticipantI like the site the way it is, however I am with Allisa in that it would be cool to have all shows played/scheduled listed on the setlist page, even if there is no actual setlist available.
It might also be nice to have a setlists forum, where people can post partial/tentative setlists for new shows, and suggest corrections to existing setlists, so that there can be a sort of peer review/collaborative effort on determining the setlist for a show before it goes up. This way the setlists are more likely to be 100% accurate, but there’s less work for you in terms of having to deal with emailed corrections from one person at a time to setlists you’ve already posted.

KeymasterI’m going to do a lot of work on this forum, I think. There are plenty of ways to make this more interactive. The more eagle-eyed amongst you may have already noticed a change that will have a big impact, in time!

ParticipantHey Si,
The site is phenomenal. I guess I’ve been visiting regularly pretty much since you started, and I began actively participating about a year and a half ago.
I wouldn’t change a thing. But since you’re looking for constructive criticism, I guess I’d hit the “More Frequent Updates” button. Specifically, I’d love to see you go back and update some sections of the site that don’t see a lot of traffic.
Similarly to the way you updated the Pen Pics, there are a few places such as Lyrics, Lyric Interpretation and Meet the Band that seem to have stopped about the time of Big Swing Face. It would be good to see BSF, Halcyon Days and Intersections equally represented in those places. That’s really all I can think of! Keep up the great work!
And what the heck’s a ‘kudo’?

Well spotted, Vic! Kudos are going to be a part of a new game that will make the forum a much bigger feature of the site.
It will all become clear when I’ve finished messing with it – basically kudos will be a currency which you “earn” by posting (which is why some people have more than others). You’ll be able to spend them on site goodies, or gamble them, give them away or invest them. I’m lining up a huge prize for who gets the most kudos over a given period.
Just some thoughts to encourage people to post, anyway. You all wanted interactivity! It’s all in the pipeline.

Hey Vic!
I have more kudos than you! Na, na, na, na, na, na! ❗
I think I just earned one more! 😆
Si, great idea! Sometimes I feel like the lone ranger on this site. ❗

Participantposting just to earn kudos?
January 30, 2007 at 6:31 am #27573Si Twining
KeymasterVery good Will! I’d rather there were excessive posts than none at all, but if anyone pulls that trick, I’ll get the banning stick out!!! 😆
I’m also looking at getting “avatars” working – a unique picture to identify each poster, beside each of their posts.
