    WILLIAMSBURG
    — Kathy Hornsby, wife and business manager of musician Bruce Hornsby, has been appointed to the Board of Visitors at the College of William and Mary.

Gov. Timothy M. Kaine announced on Tuesday that Hornsby, a 1979 graduate of William and Mary, was the newest member of the university’s governing body.

Hornsby, a photographer and former teacher, also is on the acquisitions committee for the college’s Muscarelle Museum of Art, and she has held positions on several other local councils and boards.

On the Board of Visitors, Hornsby will replace Alvin Anderson, a William and Mary alumnus and attorney whose term expired Saturday.

Kaine also reappointed Anita Poston, John Gerdelman and Henry Wolf.

Poston graduated from the college’s law school in 1974. Gerdelman graduated from the college in 1975. Wolf graduated in 1964 and earned his law degree in 1966. He is the board’s vice rector.

Poston, Gerdelman, Wolf and Hornsby were appointed to full, four-year terms.

In Boone, Bruce sang “Talk of the Town,” inserting “the William & Mary Board of Visitors” in place of “cousins and uncles” who “are having fits” and “”predicting doom.” I took this to be a slight comical dig at the Board, which may be composed of a bunch of stuffed shirts quite unlike Mrs. Hornsby. :) She’s probably one of the few females they’ve had on the Board.
