Jackson Browne, Peter Frampton, Bruce Hornsby at Haynes Jam
by Tony Kiss
published November 5, 2007 12:44 pm ASHEVILLE – Jackson Browne, Peter Frampton, and Bruce Hornsby will headline the 2007 Warren Haynes Christmas Jam, Dec. 15 at the Asheville Civic Center. Also on the show are G. Love, Stockholm Syndrome, Grace Potter and the Nocturnals and Haynes’ own band, Gov’t Mule.
Pre-sale tickets will go on sale Friday online through X-mas Jam Ticketing (http://www.xmasjam.tickets.musictoday.c … endar.aspx). This site requires registration. Also on Friday are VIP tickets which include admission to the Dec. 14 pre-jam. Tickets to the general public will be available Nov. 23 at the Civic Center box office and through Ticketmaster outlets and online at http://www.ticketmaster.com
Grammy-winner Haynes is the most successful rock star Asheville has produced. Along with Gov’t Mule, he also performs with the Allman Brothers.
The all-star show has become the single biggest ticketed concert of the year, with last year’s jam pulling a sold-out crowd of 7,200 fans from 42 states and overseas. As usual, proceeds from the jam will benefit Habitat for Humanity. Earlier this year, the Haynes organization presented Habitat a check for $127,000 from the 2006 jam, pushing the overall total to $650,000.
The first Christmas Jam, featuring local talent, was held Dec. 22, 1988 at the old 45 Cherry nightclub on Cherry Street. Through the years, it grew in size and moved to the old Be Here Now club on Biltmore Avenue, then to Thomas Wolfe Auditorium and finally to the Civic Center arena.
