ParticipantFound myself wanting to hear some “new” Bruce so looked for a concert on Bruce Hornsby Live to purchase. Picked this show and was soon listening to it thanks to Orange upping my broadband connection from 1MB to 3MB this week! The stand out track so far is “Sneakin’ up on Boo Radley” which is really hot. It’s followed by both parts of Preacher in the Ring which are awesome too. The band are really together on this show. Can’t wait to get to White-Wheeled Limousine…
Anyone else have this show? If you don’t, you should!

ParticipantHave it???? I was THERE!!!! Yes, it is (was) an awesome concert. I think you picked up on my favorite tracks. Is this the concert that starts out with him promising Teresa she can dance on stage?? I’ve been to so many Charlotte concerts, I get confused……..

ParticipantYes, that’s the one! He says she can come up and dance before he starts to play. 😆

ParticipantThat was me! 😆

ParticipantThat’s cool. Now I’ll be reminded of you everytime I listen to it.

ParticipantI’m so sorry to hear that…..
Anyway, another absolutely fantastic show you should get is the August 2, 2002 Ashevile, NC show – aka the “Biltmo’ Sho'”. I currently have disc 2 in my CD player at school/work, and I could listen to it all day (except the kindergarteners wouldn’t get it). “Jacob’s Ladder Intro / Jacob’s Ladder / Pig in a Pen / Spell on You” is absolutely the most brilliant music I’ve ever heard from Bruce. Yeah, I know DPD will disagree, but THAT is the music I put on when I need my spirits lifted. At least give it a listen. My son downloaded it for me for Christmas. Since I don’t have the capability / knowhow to download, it’s the only show CD I have (except the one Gunky gave me…thanks again!).

ParticipantI have all the 2002 shows from BH live, and they’re all fantastic. As I recall the Biltmo’ show opens with Bruce saying something like “Are we gonna have some fights tonight maybe like last year?” There’s a great version of “Big Swing Face” in that show.

ParticipantSpeaking of the Biltmo’, we’re stopping there for a visit on the way to Myrtle Beach in a week or two and I wanted to see where on the grounds it is that they hold the concerts. Anyone been there specifically to see Bruce perform?
I don’t know if he’s coming there this summer or not, but it’s only about 5 hours from Louisville so it would be worth the trek to get out there and see him. Needless to say, Bruce will be in heavy rotation on the roadtrip.

ParticipantNope, not this summer
. As you are standing in front of the Biltmore, look to your left. You will see a set of steps going down into a terrace area. Go down those and straight through a little opening in the wall. There is the terrace where the show is performed. The stage is at the back of the terrace area. They usually played colored lights on the Biltmore once it got dark. With the mountains off to the right, it was gorgeous. Only had rain once, but he played on through. Usually just a bit of mountain chill to the air, but almost no bugs! This makes 2 summers in a row without my Biltmo’ fix, and it hurts!!!

ParticipantThanks MVF! I’ve heard it is gorgeous there and that even the drive down is great. Hopefully Bruce will play there next year. It sounds like an awesome venue for a show!

ParticipantIt is when there’s a beautiful sunset, a stunning moonrise and a distant thunderstorm, as in 2005 when I was there.
Would dearly love to come back and see Bruce play there again.

ParticipantLet me be the first to officially invite you to the next (???) Biltmore show. And I’ll buy the first bottle of Biltmore wine!
Hey, anybody on the site remember the year that those at the head of the line passed around the bottles of Biltmore’s finest????? To quote Bruce, “What a Night”!

ParticipantMVF, Honey…
How you be? I am so jonesing for a BH&TNM gig that I’d slit a wrist, sell an eye tooth, think about wholesale-ing a part of a liver…um, NO, not really… but, jonesing nonetheless. Knowing that I have a fullblown addiction, I have pulled out ALL of the Bruce, LIVE.
There are a few memorable shout-outs that our dear Brucie has bestowed upon the faithful BiBs and SiBs,yours [Biltmo’, 2005]being one of the most memorable. Was that thunder in the background of Biltmo’, 2002? Oh, What a night!
On the Red Butte Garden, July, 2002, LIVE,Brucie mentions a contract and asks if lawyers were in the house? Was that contractrequest your permission to play [whatever the Hell he wants] , Alisa? It’s so nice that these are a part of recorded history.
And, *Damn*, those NOISEMAKERS sure sound good!!!Okay, the Ricky and Bruce stuff is good and the jazz trio was extraordinary, but Brucie and the Noisemakers, Honey, that’s HOME!

ParticipantHey, Lady!
Been on the look-out for you for oh, so long. Am still jealous of your “bowling” date with Vic. I have yet to meet the gentleman in person….Don’t suppose you can make the Hampton Bay Days Shows this summer???? I’m aiming for that one. Only 3.5 hours away from me. I am in desperate need of a Noisemakers’ fix. Can’t wait for the weekend after Labor Day!!!
Yes, that WAS thunder in the background. But we all just partied on and enjoyed the light show.
