ParticipantJust got a PM from Monica (aka babytweety). They were getting ready to evacuate in advance of Hurricane Ike. So, all you BiBs and SiBs, please keep her and her family in your thoughts and prayers.

ParticipantThanks all! That means alot to me.
We are packed and ready to leave tonight. We just have to travel from south of Houston up to Austin area. The kids are a little sad about not having their Noisemakers birthday party this weekend. We expected up to 40 kids for a musical themed b-day party..but its best to be safe, specially with little kids.
So we’ll keep in touch. We will take the laptop computer with us and I’ve got my important Bruce Collection Box with me..the one thing I can’t leave behind all my cds, pictures and other memories.
Thanks again and will keep in touch with you all!

Be safe, Monica! Hope all goes well for you.
A Noisemakers-themed party? That sounds really rad! Can’t wait to take my little ones to their first Bruuuce show! They did hear him in utero but I want them to get the full on experience! I’ll have to write that down as a party idea. Thanks! 😆 😆

ParticipantGood luck, Monida, and any and all affected by this. I guess I feel kinda silly for whining about the non-event that was Hanna wiping out Bay Days. You’re getting “the real thing” there, and they can be scary. Please make safety you first priority, and we’ll all pray that you get through it safely and that everything is relatively intact when you get home.

ParticipantMonica,
Please let us know how you fared. We are thinking of you. I tried looking up your town on a map, but couldn’t find it ( for the record, I couldn’t find MY town, either). I hope all is well. I will hold off sending your package until I hear from you. And don’t worry about reimbursement. Consider it all an early (or late) birthday present. 😉 😉 😉

ParticipantHI all!!
We have limited time for internet, but to let you all know. We are home..we did have slight damage to our mobile home. Shingles and skirting off. We have no power or waterr, but we are blessed to still have our home. Lots of areas had lots more damage. Lots of prayers are needing for those who were harder hit then we were.
The thankful thing is most everyone listened to the warnings to get out and have their lives. Lots of people will be in shelters for weeks, if not months.
MVF I did send you a PM.
Also I have taken some pictures of the areas where I can access so people can see some of the things that happened from the Hurricane..and also the blessings that people are out and helping each other. So,I”m working on making a YouTube video, so will keep in touch with everyone when I can.
Its good to be home and have arrived safely.

ParticipantGreat news, glad you are doing fine. My Dad took off 2 days ago, and (as of last night) was 147 miles away from his destination in Texas to assist in the clean up effort. I know he isn’t the only one headed down to help our folks in their time of need. Who knows, you may get served a meal or a helping hand from him…keep the area and those returning / serving in your thoughts and prayers. Take care lady!

ParticipantI would like to help out. Monica, could you find out if there is a school or shelter that needs supplies, etc. I would like to have my class of first graders take this on as a community service project. We probably won’t be able to help much in the money department, but we would like to send cards and letters to help cheer the people up….especially the kids. And right now, my classroom is filled chock-a-block full of school supplies left over from last year. If you could get me a name and phone number of someone connected with the Relief Program, I can take it from there.
Your shirt and bracelets will be in the mail as soon as I get out of school this afternoon. Sorry I didn’t get it there in time for the birthday party. By the way, I think we are ALL curious to know what you had planned for the Noisemaker-themed birthday party.
