ParticipantHey you guys, after a very long hiatus I’ve finally got a new album out, and since this is the first time I’ve had something available internationally for download on Amazon-mp3, Itunes, napster,CDbaby, Rhapsody, etc, etc, etc., I’m quite excited and would like to let as many people know as possible.
It’s called Megan Metcalfe- Live From The Bunker.
If you’re interested, check it out.
Let me know what you think.
Thanks for listening!

ParticipantThere’s absolutely nothing wrong with you promoting yourself! The best PR for you is yourself!
That’s my story and I’m stickin to it! 😆
I’ll check it out!
I’m sure, like you, it’s very nice!

ParticipantThanks, David.
It’s not technically a “live” album, in other words, we weren’t in front of an audience when we recorded these songs, but most, if not all the songs were recorded in a very basic fashion, live, “off the floor”, no retakes. A song in there called “Man In My Blood” was a one shot deal.
So, yeah, there’s mistakes in there and some flat notes and some stuff you might not see on something more “produced”, but we like it. It’s fun , it’s more like our live shows, and it’s more kinetic, spontaneous and real…minus the wild applause LOL ;0
The Bunker, incidentally, is what we call my husband Robbie’s basement studio…but don’t be mislead, some of the best players in Canada have recorded there…some of them appear on this record!
I await your critical appraisal and am humbled and uplifted by your support….

Instead of “the bunker”, we called it “the opium den”! 😆
Can’t wait to check it out!

Lake Lanier, GAWell, that explains SOOOO much!

It’s hard to be a Prozac Baby once you’ve visited the Opium Den………….October 21, 2008 at 12:50 pm #30342rdiakun

It’s hard to be a Prozac Baby once you’ve visited the Opium Den………….Now, I’m perplexed. When I meet Dave face to face, should I be so brazen as to start the conversation with “Hi”?

For the record…..There was no opium in The Opium Den. Get the picture….. It looked like one, so…..that’s what we called it! 😆 When Megan mentioned “The Bunker”, I couldn’t help but think of “The Opium Den”
Hadn’t thought of that in probaly 25 years. When Megan mentioned “The Bunker”, not only did I get a belly laugh, but it brought back many good memories!
That’s my story and I’m stickin to it! 😆

Megan MetcalfeMegan!!! I downloaded this from napster.com yesterday! I haven’t given it a full and in-depth listen yet, but what I did hear was absolutely exquisite! You’ve got quite a voice, and the musicians you work with are excellent. Congratulations on a job well done. Once I give it a few more whirls, I’ll give the rest of these folks a track-by-track on it. To the rest of you: GET THIS RECORD. IT’S WONDERFUL!!!!! And the picture on the cover artwork is pretty cool, too!

ParticipantHoly cow, Rich, I’m blushing!! Thank you so very much for your kind words…we’ve been hanging onto these songs for a while now, hesitant to release them in this form, because my producer/guitarist/husband Robbie Steininger felt that the production was not up to rigorous scrutiny and it might not stand up to listening by people who are used to what they hear on the radio, ie: big, clean, idiosyncratically careful production. Finally I just got sick of waiting for people to hear the songs in any form, so I said, “Let’s run with the demos!!”
Your comments are hugely vindicating for me! Please be brutally honest with your track by track, since I deeply respect your opinion. I’ll look forward to that so much.
You’ve really made my day. Thanks again.

ParticipantOh, I forgot to say, you’re absolutely right about the band. The guys I work with are a motley crew of musical geniuses and I don’t use the term genius lightly! I’ll post the information about their performances on this album after I have a look at my (still being written) liner notes….
Thanks again,
