ParticipantAs I’m going thru my Muncks in order to re-burn — condensing some, replacing others just due to scratches, etc — I wonder…let’s waste some time shall we?
Which Muncks are YOUR faves? I’ll limit mine to 5: (in no meaningful order)
1) Anaheim ’05
2) Saratoga ’06
3) Woodinville ’06
4) Bend ’07
5) Portland ’04These are the shows that seem to consistently knock my listening-bones’ socks off.
Anyone?
(Maybe later we could do our fave boots…and watch the instant messages fly 😆 )

ParticipantSince you asked, I see that you have it on your list, my absolute favorite is the Woodinville ’06. Perhaps the fact that I was at the show helped, but I don’t think so. I know I would have liked it anyway.
The next in line is Salt Lake City ’02. The sequence with Wharf Rat>Look Out Any Window, Across the river and Lady with a Fan is just outstanding.
After that, the fall 2004 shows all have things that I like about them, but my favorate of that group is the Portsmouth VA show. I just love the jam on Talk of the Town from that one.
I am one of those crazies who has every single one of those recordings they have put out. I guess if I have to have a vice…Bruce is a good one.Jim S.

ParticipantI’m jealous of your Woodinville ’06 presence…that is a smoking show….
There are a couple of ’02 shows that I tried to snap up (SLC is one, Westbury the other) but the ‘buy’ button is not working for both…I did manage to get Kalamazoo ’02, which features some good bits, but in comparison to the later years, sounds slightly undercooked.
“Talk” from Portsmouth ’04 has some good jam? The rest of the set looked a bit liked some of the other shows, but it’s funny how one or two exemplary improvs and/or performances can make the purchase price worthwhile…here I’m thinking of the Nawlins and Austin ’05 shows. Both have moments that are just dynamite….

ParticipantI had to think about this one a while. I love the 2002 shows because they were the first Munck releases and they featured songs from Big Swing Face. The live versions of those songs made me appreciate them.
Here is my list:
-Jacksonville ’02 (the smooth jazz version of The Way It Is and Bruce singing Grandma’s Hands)Salt Lake City ’02 (Wharf Rat>Look Out Any Window and I Will Walk With You and the tributes to “Cornelius Bum’ bee Read” and Sonny Emory)
Copenhagen ’04 (Look Out Any Window)
Portland ‘04
Chicago ’04 (End Of The Innocence>Little Drummer Boy)
Montgomery ’05 (The Way It Is)
Asheville ’05 (Jacob’s Ladder>Stranger In A Strange Land)

ParticipantYeah that Talk of the Town for Portsmouth, VA is pretty sweet the ‘winging it’ at the end is great. I love the way Bruce sings it towards the end. Also the Country Doctor from that show is a smoker as well as the Lady with a Fan.
My new favorite munck recording is the new one I just got, 8/9/08 Buffalo,NY.
Not only because I was there front and center but also the setlist is one of my favs. He played three songs outta five that I requested.
The WWL, Tango King, Country Doctor, and Sunflower Cat were all smokers.
My favorite part of the night was Bruce doing one of my requests Standing on the Moon, he had a tear towards the end when he kept singing ‘I would rather be with you, be with you, I’d rather be with you’. I got alot of cool pics of the band and also met the whole band before the show and had them sign ‘Halcyon Days’.
It was great and such a wonderful memory.March 4, 2009 at 7:49 am #30641jims
ParticipantThe latest show is quite a good one, I really liked the version of This Too Shall Pass and the way he segued it into The Way It Is. I’m sure those discs will get a workout.
Definity sounded like a fun show to be at. Sort of like the Woodinville 06 for me. -
