Many of you have asked about Bruce’s touring plans for 2010. Bruce says, “I’m burned out from being on the road and am taking a break long enough to allow me to enjoy it again.”Many have commented on Facebook. I was curious to see the reaction of the board dwellers….
As disappointed as I am, at least I got to see him at Bay Days in the fall. Bruce is as hard-working a guy as there is out there in the music biz, especially (and oh, I hate saying this) at his age. Heavy touring is tough on kids who are in their 20s and full of energy. I can only imagine how much of a toll it must take on one of us middle-aged folk.
I very selfishly hope he gets his batteries recharged soon, but I appreciate his honesty with the announcement.

ParticipantI can’t help but think there is more to the reasoning behind the lack of concerts than Bruce is letting on. It just seems so un-Hornsby-like to cancel a string of west coast dates, cancel a European tour, then not tour in 2010 for three totally separate reasons.
Anyway, I’m going to miss the shows greatly. I’m so lucky to have seen him at Bay Days as well as in Richmond in ’09. Fantastic shows… especially the show at The National in Richmond.
I hope all is well in Hornsbyland and am still hopeful that some of the ’09 shows will turn up on the brucehornsbylive site.

KeymasterI’d really rather we weren’t drawn into speculation – I think the consistent explanation is that Bruce needs a break.
Don’t forget how much of a traumatc year 2009 was for the Hornsby family, and Bruce worked right through it.
The rest is well deserved, I think! (and I know you weren’t suggesting otherwise)

ParticipantAgree with Si here. Our man Bruce shoots us straight on anything and everything, moreso than he really has to, if you think about it. He really doesn’t owe anyone an explanation for the decisions he makes regarding his schedule and career.
Bruce delivered quite a memorable year of shows and a superb new record, all while dealing with the loss of a family member and fellow artist. The Biltmore was my lone Bruce show for the year, but the memories from that show will certainly tide me over until Bruce decides he’s ready to get back out there.

The last time I saw him, with “bags under his eyes”, “unkept” hair and weight loss, I could tell “burnout” was written all over his face.
On the other hand…..Don’t get too carried away with the attitude of…..”Forget about tomorrow, live for today”!…..Sometimes you hasta make a “business decision” for the good of the “long term”!
Think about it……Bruce has done everything! Wouldn’t you do the same if you could?
:
Bruce will back. You can bet on it! And…..He will be better because he put himself in “time out”!
That’s my story and I’m stickin to it! 😆
In the mean time……I guess we’ll have to keep the faith and keep…..
Still havin a ball!

ParticipantRemember, he also has a lot of other irons in the fire, such as the stage production of “SCK BSTRD”. So, it’s not like he’s just becoming a recluse and sleeping for the rest of the year.
