ParticipantWOW! What a treat! An early Christmas present … This was the last show Bruce performed in 2009 before his voice went down and before he cancelled the 2010 dates.
I saw him in Denver the night before but was unable to go see this great performance in Boulder the next night!
Thanks so much!

ParticipantVic, I hate to burst your bubble (yet once again
but Aspen was the last show of 2009. I’m so glad Oscar posted this because I recall you asking me what songs he played at the Boulder show and while I was so into the show, I forgot to write the songs down. So here ya have it.
Thanks Oscar.

ParticipantMary, oh wise and all-knowing one, I happily stand corrected yet again.
;p
By the way, this is my first time hearing “20/20 Vision.” I’m loving the creative places the musical is taking Bruce. This IS from the musical, right? It sounds as if it could be an old-time classic bluegrass balad.
I distinctly recall the first time I heard many of these 20-or-so songs he’s written for SCKBSTD. “Low Country” was live in Louisville, “Paperboy” on the Levitate album, and “Soon Enough” right here thanks to Si and the taping community.
It’s so fun to hear Bruce sing a new song that I’ve never heard, especially when he’s testing them out live for the first time.

ParticipantVic, you would’ve really enjoyed the VA Beach show last month as Bruce did some new songs from the musical that I hadn’t heard before. The bat song, as in baseball bat, was hilarious.
Well, I don’t have anything else that I can pick on you for so I best sign off…..
oh wise and all-knowing one (I love it) 😆 ,

Victor,
I guess I get to do the correcting this time….Bruce can be heard singing a spectacular version of “20/20 Vision” on the Charlie Haden Family & Friends album entitled “Rambling Boy.” I believe this record was released in 2008. It’s just Bruce and an acoustic bass, but this rendition took my breath away the first time I heard it. He puts lots of emotion into the song and uniquely “stretches” his vocal style.
The snippet Bruce sang at the Boulder show gives just a hint of the full version.
I believe you’re right about the song being classic bluegrass. After hearing Bruce’s version, I found it on iTunes by Jimmy Martin. It definitely has that classic bluegrass sound.
I hope this information is helpful.

ParticipantPoor Vic, if it’s not me correcting him, then it’s Jackie.
You might as well just go sit in a corner with your back facing us.
Vic, you know we love you.

ParticipantI’m going to stop posting now.
At least, I’ll try to put a moratorium on stupid posts.
The “20/20” lyrics just sounded like they might come from the stalker/peeping Tom/Paperboy/SCKBSTD character from the musical, I guess. A haunting song nonetheless. I guess I should look up that Charlie Haden & Friends album Jackie mentioned.
And I AM looking forward to hearing the Bat song and those others Bruce sang at the recent show…
Cheers,

ParticipantMary,
It’s a full time job keeping the guys on The Board in line, isn’t it? lolVictor,
Don’t feel bad. I myself have written “dumb” stuff on this forum. You’re not alone.
.
You definitely should check out that album;there are some great versions of old songs & a couple of new ones worth a listen. If you are an Amazon shopper, you can get an MP3 version of “Nobody There But Me” from their version of the record.
And remember-We wouldn’t tease you so much if we didn’t love you!
