ParticipantI guess I have done good so far at influencing my children with good music. Both my son 7yrs old and daughter 6yrs old love to listen to Bruce’s music.
Today was proof that Bruce’s music must have some influence on their learning. I was at my children’s elementary school awards today and my daughter Abigail received the award for Outstanding Music Student Award. I was never so proud before.
Her and her brother are always listening to my Bruce CDs and always wanting to watch the DVD’s and listen to the live downloads we get on Si’s site. Just amazes me that Bruce’s music would have that much influence over such a young child to do that good in music.
She was choosed out of two classes of about 34 students total. Only three students received the award. I’m a proud mom today!!

ParticipantAfter the show yesterday when we were talking with Bruce, JV, and Sonny….this little kid came up to Bruce and was like ‘Bruce I am your biggest fan and had so much fun I love you’ and I swear it look like Bruce was gonna cry because this kid was so tiny and had this cute timid voice. It was hilarious and awesome, that little kid has great taste in music.

ParticipantAt one of the Biltmo’ Sho’s, I met the most incredible 5-year-old boy. Dad had driven the two of them down from Michigan(!) just for the concert. We had time to kill while waiting in line, and he and I got to singing our favorite Bruce songs. I swear, there was not ONE song this kid didn’t know!!!! If you look on the concert pictures page, you can find a couple of pics of him. I even have a picture of him where I sat him up on the stage. And they say you can’t dance on stage at the Biltmo’!
BTW, that arm you see holding him up to the stage is mine!

ParticipantI completely agree as it’s happened to me. I probably started listening to Bruce around the age of 9 after my father was playing some of his music, and ever since, I’ve been hooked. It’s pleasing to know that there are some kids and teens out there that are sophisticated enough to enjoy listening to Bruce’s music as opposed to the typical garbage that the majority are sucked into.

ParticipantBeing the children of two musicians, my kids (7&12) have been exposed to a huge range of music of every stripe. Avante-garde, jazz, bluegrass, classical, country, pop, rock, classic 40’s, 50’s, 60’s, yada, yada, yada….I mean, there’s 700 songs on my ipod alone!
They both have very broad ranging taste, musically, but the absolute reigning king of music for my kids is Bruce. It’s the one thing they always agree on. If we’re on long road trips, we have to have all of his CDs with us. My daughter’s favorite song is “Levitate”…she sings it to herself before she goes into a soccer game. She feels it helps her play better, gives her more confidence. My 12 year old son’s favorite song of all is “Here We Are Again”…he listens to it over and over…loves the changes musically and the concepts lyrically. My son also loves “Space Is the Place”…Bruce’s son was 11, I think when he did the voiceover on this song, so it speaks quite clearly to my 12 year old now…This makes me incredibly happy….June 24, 2011 at 5:56 pm #32750MVF

Apparently, you can OVER influence a child with good music…..
I inundated my son with Hornsby music from the time “The Way It Is” first hit the airwaves. Unfortunately, I guess I went a little overboard, because to this day, he absolutely HATES Hornsby music, and will not let me play it if he is within earshot. 🙄 What’s a mother to do???? I mean, he doesn’t lie, cheat, steal, or spit on the sidewalk, so I must have done SOMETHING right. But still……….
