Can anyone refresh my memory? Just listening to Dagle’s Choice Vol. 1 and around the 2:30 mark of Valley Road, the band plays a melody that I believe is from a Coltrane tune. Wracking my brain to no avail; can anyone help? If it comes to it I’ll start going through Trane CDs until I find it :) Best guess is that it’s something off of the Blue Train or Giant Steps albums.

Just got it–answered my own question. The melody is from part 2 of A Love Supreme (Resolution). I was off by nearly a decade.

Yo Zambi, thanks for clearing that one up…I’ve either asked the board and not received an answer or e-mailed BH and not received an answer. Heresy to some people here (not many, but some 😆 ) but while i appreciate ‘trane, I’m not the biggest fan.
I tend to lean more towards the Ornette side of the saxamophone playing style, Oliver Nelson, Eric Dolphy…anyhoo, thanks for doing the heavy lifting!

It still kills me when I listen to that one Munck dld. from Saratoga ’06 where BH talks about not knowing “Comfortably Numb” because “when Pink Floyd was popular” he was listening to Coltrane… 🙄 😮 :D
