ParticipantMaybe I didn’t, but I can dream right?
I decided for the Club Nokia show, September 10th, in Los Angeles, I would request songs that hadn’t been played in a while, knowing that there would be a very slim chance that Bruce would play them. Why request songs that you know will be requested by default, right?
So I went with Barren Ground, Longest Night, and Swing Street.
Barren Ground had last been played, 07/21/2006.
Longest Night had last been played, 05/08/2009.
Swing Street had last been played, 12/08/2004.Although none of my requests were granted that night, thanks to Si for posting the Daily Doses, I found out that Barren Ground and Swing Street were played on 9/11/11 and 9/30/11, respectively. Maybe my requests inspired Bruce to pick these old songs back up, and give them a shot? Either way, while I’m disappointed I didn’t get to hear them live, the recordings did not disappoint, and are an absolute joy to listen to, especially Swing Street since I’d never heard a live recording of it until now.
I absolutely love the Live Noise Bruce releases, but one thing that disappoints me is there’s not much diversity in the songs on those albums. It’s usually the same group of 30 or so songs rotated around on each Live Noise. To mix in some oldies and rare songs would be awesome, and hopefully by playing some of these rarer songs on this past tour such as Barren Ground and Swing Street, Bruce will make this a trend.

ParticipantYou prob helped get Bruce to think about these songs again.
Barren Ground has been in his lineup for a few years now.
Swing Street I requested last night and even wrote the lyrics on the back for him.
When he played it earlier in the month, this second request from me probably rekindled his and the bands interest again.
I’ve never seen him play swing street live and all the recordings I have form Bruce (which is a lot) only have him playing swing street solo and not the entire thing.
I’m still searching for a live version of “Set Me in Motion”, don’t think it exists……..

ParticipantAwesome that you requested Swing Street and he played it that night! Would you be able to post the set list of the show you were at?

ParticipantThanks!
Also, I believe someone was able to find me a live recording of Longest Night a while back, but I don’t seem to have it.
Would anyone be able to dig up a live version of Longest Night for me, preferably from the 05/08/2009 American Music Theater – Lancaster, PA show, but any will do.

ParticipantSome forgotten Bruce songs that I’d love to see him do
Set me in motion (super rare)
The Old Playground
Heartbreak Town (I’m thinking this was a “demo” song bruce did and he probably never thought about after the movie it was in)
Stranded on Easy Street,
Red Plains ( another request of mine last night, he started to play last night but decided to play Down the road tonight instead….

ParticipantStranded On Easy Street is on my list too.
I got really lucky because Bruce played Red Plains at the show in Los Angeles.
