Loudest Crowd Ovation Award (indoor division) before encore!
The OP was actually cooler than I expected for the first half of the show but I grabbed a cup of water and a bit of a/c in the breezeway during the dulcimer* set.August 11, 2013 at 10:54 pm #33832David Day
ParticipantWhat a great show! It is my opinion, the best ‘set list’ ever for a show as well! Great renditions of Funhouse, Candy Mountain Run, Cruise Control, Spider Fingers and also Space is the Place!
A great friendly crowd in Asheviile, as always! Bruce did give a little ‘dig’ about not playing at Biltmore, but have a feeling Bruce will be back at OP!
From the history books, as the ‘self elected’ historian……I cannot seem to remember any show where Bruce did not play The Way It Is! The crowd did not care! Seems they were more ‘in tune’ to more ‘high energy’ noise and……Bruce and Noisemakers seemed to enjoy that!
Is this the first show ever that Bruce did not play The Way It Is? One for the ‘record books’?
Always great to see everyone! As HDbahn said, ‘They were on fire!’ And yes, they were!
…..
Oh! Sound check……Circus on the Moon!

ParticipantHad a great time at The Orange Peel! Enjoyed meeting HDBahn for the 1st time and running into David Day! The OP crowd was electric most of the night and the band really played off the crowd’s energy. Bruce’s voice sounded a bit tired at the start but by Across the River he was very strong and the playing was, of course, on point all night. This being my 6th or 7th time seeing him, I was pleased with the variety of songs he played. Valley Road had “some new clothes” on the dulcimer and the crowd ate up Bruce going into Midnight Rider. Met JT before the show and he was super nice to stop and take a photo with me and my wife. The show was around 2.5 hours long and, as many have said already, the band was really on fire all night.
