I’ve been a fan of Bruce since 1986. Love his keyboard style and unique vocals. I’ve read in some of his interviews that former Doobie Brother Michael McDonald gave him his first big break in 1979. Do any of you know if there are any Hornsby concerts where McDonald has joined him on stage? Thanks in Advance! Love this site! ;)

I’d never heard about the McDonald connection before I came across your post. At first I thought you had him confused with Huey Lewis who was somewhat instrumental (no pun intended) in getting Bruce his first record deal back in 1986. Huey also sang/produced on his first album & played harmonica on his second one. But I looked into it & you are indeed right. Michael McDonald actually met Bruce in 1980 & introduced him to several big ppl in the music business in L.A. which ultimately paved the road for Bruce to land a song publishing deal with 20th Century-Fox and to also doing session work for other big names like Sheena Easton.
