7/3/14 NWC Venue Note- Lawn and distant VIP/restaurant seating; no outside food/bev except water Long lines to only bar/market beverage sales immediately before bh+nm Good Sound! Chessboxer and then Sol Driven Train open
What A Time; Dreaded Spoon; Life In The Psychotropics; Mandolin Rain; Rainbow’s Cadillac; Funhouse; Defenders Of The Flag; The Way It Is (maybe after WWL?)(rain break-JT is getting wet as is the stage; crowd is soaked); White Wheeled Limousine; (Fireworks Break-with Moon in breaking clouds); Big Rumble; End Of The Innocence; Sunflower Cat>Going Down(Don Nix) Nearby lightning (2 miles) before show and ugly clouds but amazingly only about 15 minutes of rain including a song’s worth of heavy soaking. I see Bruce reading my request during rain break. NO dulcimer set due to weather on stage.
7/5/14 Greenfield Lake Amphitheater soundcheck-Rainbow’s Cadillac; What A Time; Dreaded Spoon;Resting Place;Stander On The Mountain;I’m Alive; Gonna Be Some Changes (incomplete versions, started with Rick Carlisle on piano I think- no vocal at first) Chessboxer opens
Neighborhood Watch; Big Rumble>minor key Mandolin Rain>Big Rumble; What A Time>Dreaded Spoon>What A Time;End Of The Innocence (“new version circa 2012” per request); Life In The Psychotropics; Gonna Be Some Changes Made; Big Stick; I’m Alive (Bruce on dulcimer-song needed the bass line that is the hook, but JV is playing cards onstage with Rick and Abby Carlisle); Green Green Rocky Road (traditional-credited to Dave Van Ronk by Bruce); Valley Road (dulcimer); Funhouse (“Phyllis”, not Jenny, “drove out to Vegas”, JT’s first wife lives in infamy); The Way It Is; White Wheeled Limousine>Long Black Veil>Liberty Valance>WWL; encore with Rick Carlisle on piano – Rainbow’s Cadillac>Franklin’s Tower>Rainbow’s Cadillac
Great little venue despite general admission- had a nice aisle seat about five rows up – dancing down front. My Big Rumble request from Charlotte is “perfected” here, thanks to Bruce’s generosity and my normally useless attempts at mind control by collage. Both shows had Moyes Lucas on drums.
