Mandolin Rain (minor key)This was a wonderful show in a pretty intimate venue…had front row a little far left where we seen the back of him but a perfect view of those spider fingers doing their magic.
I got three requests played CIRCUS ON THE MOON, INVISIBLE, and LOST IN THE SNOW.
Bruce was in great spirits and even hung out with a bunch of us after the show for like 20 minutes for pictures, autographs, stories, and answers to all my dumb questions. He also showed/read a text from Spike Lee from earlier that day about his next film Bruce is gonna score for him, it was pretty funny.
I almost went a whole show without hearing the Dead requests being yelled out…but right before the encore it happened.
I had a better review but somehow lost it during my first post as when I hit submit this site wanted me to sign in again so everything was lost…pretty annoying.
All in all this was a great time…I snapped a couple pics and put them in my photo album so check them out if you want.
Bruce said that there is a West Coast tour planned so all you folks on the left side get ready.

ParticipantWest Coast Tour!?!? Full band or solo?
And what kind of “dumb” questions did you ask Bruce haha? I’m sure I have some similar questions.

Ha! Same shit hap’d to moi back when the Keene/Rutland shows rolled around: came home from the Keene show, wrote a long-ass review, hit submit, only to discover I’d been logged out and the rev was GONE! Wrote the 2nd that morning, but alas, the feeling (and long-windedness) had evaporated……..
Any more deets on that Spike flick (remake of a Korean violent potboiler called “Oldboy”)? I tried to get him to play some of that when he was here, but as I noted, he dissed all of my reqs both nights. LOL
“Bird Music” is “Reveil des Oiseaux” (pretty sure), a 1953 work by Messiaen.
Did you scandalize BH with more of your insults re. Jerry Wannabe? Heh. Hit me up offy so we can gossip ’bout that and de ol beisball…

ParticipantTakavi,
I actually had the chance to do a podcast interview with Bruce a couple of weeks ago where we get into some Oldboy chatter (and a bunch of other things). It will be online at Popdose.com within the next couple of weeks. I will share it here when we get it posted
GG – I was at that Kent Stage show….a good night…good to know that “Invisible” was one of your requests. Love that one and it was one of the highlights of the night, without question!

ParticipantHey AV —
Yeah mon, let us know. I’m ashamed to say that I hadn’t visited the ol’ PopDose in a while, but now that you’ve reminded me it’s as if a breath of fresh air has been (re)injected into my ‘net wanderings/yearnings for “that one cool site where I don’t feel like barfing.” I know, cold comfort, but still…LOL
“Invisible”: made the better half watch “World’s Greatest Dad” a few months ago, and she actually enjoyed it. Hearing that particular tune reminds me of the flick, hence the mention. If any of you BH fanatics have yet to see it, shame on youse. It IS strong stuff, tho — be advised.

P.S. At some point, some film major will do his/her dr. thesis on Bobcat’s flicks — I would LOVE to read that…

I really didn’t ask him ‘dumb’ questions as I was just saying that to be stupid…..it was more or less just conversation about random stuff…mostly releasing more live shit, what he plans on doing in ’13, and we talked about his son Keith’s great game he played the night before as that was the reason BH came to town.
I’m not sure if the West Coast tour will be solo or full band as once he said West Coast I started talking about something else as I won’t be WC anytime soon so I didn’t need to know, sorry. He did say he will come back East and he is doing a spring or summer tour with Ricky Skaggs which I’m not too excited about as I would rather have him tour with the Noisemakers…..but any Bruce is good Bruce unless its with a Fake Jerry ala Furthur…that one was for ‘nilla lips;)

So other than the Skaggs tour, I’m assuming to promote the album they’ll be releasing this coming year, what did Bruce say about releasing more live stuff and what’s in store for this coming year?

You’re gonna give away part of my acronym! 😆
Wasn’t BH mentioning that a Skaggs/Hornsby live album was in the offing? Thus a reason for a tour…
I’d definitely go see the S/H hoedown; not the biggest fan of bluegrass, but DO appreciate it (my teenage git teach was/is a touring picker/grinner, so that influenced me a bit). Would be cool to see/hear a different set from Bruce.
Maybe the Goon could forget about that 5hr. travel limit of his and motor to the NE area for a meet-up. Ya never know…

Let me know when this is up and I’ll link to it from Bruuuce.com also. I know it’ll be a great interview.
