KeymasterPlease use this forum do have your say on the categories for the year-end awards.
I’ve come up with four categories so far:
Daily Dose of the Year
Moment of the Year
Concert of the Year
Photograph of the YearSuggestions for more categories are welcome on this forum before they go to everyone’s vote on the main site.
Or if you have a suggested winner for any of the above, e-mail me or let us know on this forum.
If you’ve taken a great picture, you could be up for the 2005 Photograph of the Year. The only condition is that it must be from this year, so if you qualify, do e-mail me with your picture, along with the date and venue.

KeymasterMoment of the year
I’m suggesting some “Moments of 2005” here – your ideas are also welcome before we put it to the vote. Either leave a post on here or e-mail me.
Some moments, then:
Bruce plays with Trey Anastasio at the Jerry Garcia tribute
The “Three Nights on the Town” DVD is released
J.V.Collier starts his own website and online diary
Shadow Hands tribute is released
Debbie Henry returns at Asheville
An impromptu “Billie Jean” in Reno
JV and Sonny’s guest vocals in Hyannis
Bruce plays guitar in Westbury
Playing with Bob Weir and Ratdog
Sonny and Jay Lane’s “drum-off” during “The Way It Is”
JV’s “Michael Row The Boat Ashore” in New YorkDecember 6, 2005 at 4:09 am #26307Will_S
ParticipantTwo more moments:
1. Sonny and JV start yelling dak! dak! dak! at Bruce during the Saratoga show for no apparent reason. Then Bruce tells the story of playing pickup basketball in Thailand (dak!=dunk!) and all throughout the rest of the show there are calls of dak! at opportune moments from the band and audience.
[old link is now dead]
And then there are even cries of dak! dak! dak! the next night in Redding, about 270 miles away.
2. Bruce plays a couple songs with the other Bruce (Springsteen) in November. Bruce H first walks onto stage while Bruce S is playing a solo piano bit, looking unimpressed and reading a newspaper. “You better be reading the want ads, Hornsby,” Springsteen replies, “I’m gonna school you now brother!”

ParticipantMaybe this is going to make me sound like a shill, but I’m not too concerned about that.
Si, I know you’re the one handling the year-end awards and have thus disqualified yourself from most anything, but you absolutely 100% deserve significant recognition for all that you’ve done for the Hornsby fan community. I know that I would personally have next-to-no live material of his if it weren’t for you, and I certainly wouldn’t be able to keep up so well on material of his being released if it weren’t for your news updates. I’m not as well-connected in the fan community as others I’m sure, but I know for at least me personally, I would not hesitate to nominate you for -something-, if only a lifetime fan achievement award.
As an off-topic note, I’m sorry that I never got back with you about the web-related things that we’d discussed. Not too long after I got the chance to talk to you in Asheville, I happened upon a full-time job and my time was largely eaten away. I’m still willing to help, however, if you could still use it!

KeymasterHi Rob:
Thanks for your message. I appreciate the sentiment, and others have suggested the same.
To be honest, I get my jollies out of the various e-mails – and this forum – on an ongoing basis. That’s really enough for me.
Aside from that, I’m not really comfortable with running a website which tells people how great it is! I’d rather let the content speak for itself.
Thank you, though. I appreciate your words.
– Si.

KeymasterOkay, someone’s e-mailed me to suggest a “Request of the Year” award.
Nice idea… I’ll cobble some nominees together from the setlists, but do any of you have any that spring to mind, or any more award suggestions??

ParticipantI agree with FearTheFrail, you need your own award.

Okay, Si, if you have excluded yourself from any kind of award…..
the next most deserving[imo]people are Wayne Pooley, King of the Boards; and, Damon of MunckMusic, the person who lovingly took Wayne’s stuff and put into download-able files and cds for the people, fan-adicts like me, who must have BruuuceMusic and, who like the music as ‘clean’ as it was during a Bruuuce concert. Ahh, an honest and pristine memento of LIVE Bruce Hornsby and the Noisemakers…. always memorable and never boring. Is there anything better??? ParticipantHow about “Best on stage dancing”?
“Oldest fan”?
“”Fan who isn’t old, but goes way, way back”?? -
