2015 show recordings are starting to surface. There’s one one DIME and one on etree. Looks like Rainbow’s is now a bluegrass song. It sounds a lot like the Another Day>Mighty Quinn jam from Columbus ’94 (at least that’s the most memorable recording to me).
Jack Straw sounds really awesome with a fiddle – the new guys get some solo vocals on it (might need some work?).
M.I.A. Am I is definitely my favorite of the new songs. It works so well with the stripped down “back porch band” with the washboard and dulcimer.
They’ll be going up on this site as MP3s as well.
Well spotted on the Mighty Quinn reference – that’s exactly what I got from it as well.
I really like Gibb Droll’s vocal addition to Jack Straw.
While not really a 2015 recording, seems like this would be a good place to mention that the Exhibit Records 180g release of The Way It Is finally came out this week, mine just shipped today from Amazon Canada.
This was mastered by the very well-respected Kevin Gray from Cohearent Audio (http://www.cohearent.com/meet-kevin-gray/) and Bruce’s rep at RLM confirmed Kevin got to work from the original stereo analogue master tape for this release. It’s being pressed at RTI.
The original 120g domestic pressing is very good in its own right, but I’m looking forward to seeing what magic Kevin was able to coax from the original analogue master for this release. It’s currently US$24 on Amazon US if any vinyl fans are looking.
