Vince Welnick, a Grateful Dead keyboard player and former bandmate of Bruce has just died, making 4–four! keyboard player deaths from the GD organization. Be careful, Bruce!!
There was so much talk of Vince’s passing, as it was very tragic and he was in a bad way. I think it’s a bit morbid to make light of it…
I certainly don’t mean to make fun or light of it. I think Vince was a good musician and Brent left VERY big shoes to fill. It’s also unfortunate that so much dirty laundry was aired as a result of Vince’s passing. Also, I don’t believe in the ‘curse’ per se, but Bruce Hornsby sat in that hot seat for several years and was a key member of the dead and if I was Bruce (or Tom) I’d certainly think about how all of those guys died before their time and I’d watch my ass….
