KeymasterTop man, thank you!
(Mandolin Wind, or Rain? They have been known to play both, just to keep us on our toes…)
Thanks again! Much appreciated.

ParticipantGreat show last night…have some pictures to send to you Si as soon as I get caught up on some much needed sleep.
From where I was sitting, got some good piano work pictures!“Who Takes Care of Mom” was my request…actually worked on it with my kids, so it was written from them to Bruce to be a special request for me, even though they weren’t there. It was for my mom’s night out. My heart just melted when Bruce said he had to do a special request for a special mom.
So sweet.
That has to be my top concert memory of all now.Monica

Participant“Hooray For Tony”?
Sorry to be pedantic, but did BH change the lyrics to “Hooray For Tom,” or is it a new tune?
Or did someone make a mistake?
Yes, it could’ve been me,

Bruce did change the words, did about a minute or so little song with his own words, had to do with a request he had on stage.

He sang a version for his friend Tony LaRussa at his wedding a few years back and changed the song to Hooray for Tony so someone in the crowd probably wanted to hear TL’s wedding version.
Also, has these past few shows been sit-downs or are people rockin’ out. Just curious

ParticipantIt actually wasn’t for a wedding but for a great “celebrity roast.” Have a DVD of the roast which includes an audio version of this song. Really very funny if you know Larussa and his relationship with Hornsby and others.

Maybe the audio version of the song on the roast dvd was from the wedding unless the dvd shows BH sining it at the roast, but yeah Bruce told us that he sang it at Tony’s wedding.
Sounds like a cool dvd though.I met LaRussa two years ago and he turned me down for an autograph saying that ‘he’s been burned too many times’ probably meaning that he signed for someone and they sold it afterwards. I even mentioned Bruce Hornsby and TL acted like he didn’t know him. I know TL knows BH but who knows maybe he was having a bad day.

Tony was Canseco and Mac’s manager at Oakland and Mac’s manager at St. Louis, and now Mac is his “hitting coach.” What a joke. “I’m not here to talk about the past.” Indeed.
La Russa, after Mac cried a river not really admitting anything, first said he knew nothing about Mac, but THEN said he (La Russa) knew all about what was going on during “the steroid era.”
After Mac’s self-inflicted disintegration into a human loop of “I’m not here to talk about the past” at the hearings, ESPN caught up with La Russa — he said “I believe in Mark” and walked away. What a douche.
We all have friends who are jerks with some sort of secret, big or small. With faults. Can’t blame BH for La Russa’s idiocies.
T, not a La Russa fan (duh) 😆

ParticipantSorry I don’t log setlists, but from Reno to Austin, Big Stick made every show (and a fan in Santa Fe gave Bruce a carved stick with a U. of Miami logo and piano keys painted on it) as did (I think) Shadow Hand. Cyclone was played before tornado outbreaks in NC and later Alabama/Georgia. There was one Talk Of and one Night On The Town; two Across the Rivers; one This Too Shall Pass. Sonny didn’t make it until the Dallas and Austin shows, and I thought it was still Moyce (spelling?) Lucas in Dallas because I couldn’t see over the piano and they paused/flubbed the start of Preacher in the Ring Part 2. Length of shows – 1:50 Reno; 2:00 Las Vegas; Santa Fe; Houston; Dallas; 1:30 Austin (charity show) General impressions – I hated standing in Las Vegas (which was sold out except for VIP booths with the price bumped from $395 to $600 day of show – I got a ticket last second from a casino guest who had been comped, p.s. thanks DD for giving me hope) because I’m tall and it’s uncomfortable having my footspace limited. I thought HoB shows would be tolerable with seats but in Dallas the dance zone was erected in front of the “good” seats, and not counting the people that walked out and left bad reviews at Ticketmaster, one loud jerk yelled (twice) during minor key Rain “This version SUCKS Bruce”. Way to go Dallas! I had no history at any of these venues, so I enjoyed Reno (after a four day drive and two day wait), Santa Fe (historic with comfy seats), Houston (lovely smelling waitress with cool ink), and Austin (the regular public was in the balcony and the new Austin City Limits venue is mostly concrete and steel) – but a pretty cool view of the hands I don’t usually see since fate (and my preference) lands me in front of JT for most shows. May the road be kind to you and Longwood Gardens is a nice place to visit but I haven’t seen a concert there. Jon T
