ParticipantAtlanta solo show Saturday, June 10, at EarthLink Live which use to be called Center Stage Theater!
It looks like even though it’s billed as a solo show, Sonny is playing drums with Francine Reed. Does anyone know if Francine Reed plays bass? If so, it may be more of the jazz side of Bruce which is excellent!
The EarthLink Live is a very intimate venue. The floor is general admission. It’s a great venue for a show!

ParticipantRe: RE: Atlanta
Long time lurker making my first post: I was at the Atlanta show last night, front row, sitting nect to Victor.
While the show was originally billed as “solo”, Bruce’s band was there, and this show was fabulous!
Also a nice surprise: the General Admission section had seats (Center Stage venue: my feet thank you!)
Sorry I don’t have a set list, I was too busy enjoying this show – but this was one of the best shows I’ve seen from Bruce (and I’ve seen many over the years).
What made it so good to me? The song selection; the band was having a ton of fun; small intimate venue; incredible sound clarity at the venue (at least from where I was seated); great Bruce fans all around me; and being front row (woo!).
I’ll post a few photos I got from my seat with my camera phone later. As a semi-professional photographer, I’m a little embaressed by the limitations of what a camera phone device was able to get, but glad to get the pics out here.
Victor, great to meet you, and hope you had a safe trip back to Tenn!
In Atlanta,
DelugeAlso… a first for me, Bruce played two songs from my hand-written request note:
1) Fortunate Son/Comfortably Numb, which he introduced with a wonderful description of how Fortunate Son came to be, and how he had sang with Roger Waters (I think FS/CN was one of the highlights of the show – very powerful)
When I used to live in Seattle I was always amused to see Seattle Super Sonics GM Wally Walker at concerts – apparently we have similar tastes in music. Last year he and HowardS were sitting behind me at the Rolling Stones show at the Key, and Wally and I were talking about all the great Bruce shows we’ve both seen – he was telling me how he’s good friends with Bruce, so I mentioned that on my song request note. Wally, if you’re reading this forum, Bruce introduced Fortunate Son / Comfortably Numb as “for The Bossman”, who I assume is you.
2) Sunflower Cat: love this song! He played this after my audible call out.

ParticipantGreat show. Loved all acts, and the front row seats on the floor was an absolutely fantastic surprise. I have some pics and VERY short videos from the show but I don’t know how to put them on here and they looked horrible on youtube. Any suggestions? Also, anyone know for sure whether that show was or wasn’t taped? By the way, Bruce incorporated my friend into the encore!!! Can’t wait for Chastain

Did you see any mic stands (in the audience) at the show? That’s one way to know for sure there’s a tape out there, although just because you didn’t see anyone taping doesn’t mean no one taped.
I know of one person planning to tape the Atlanta show but I don’t yet know if he actually did or how he’ll be circulating it.

What a great time! Centerstage is a neat venue, and Deluge and everybody there were true fans. I hope Sonny’s charity made some good money. We were surprised to see the Noisemakers there, minus Bobby Read — whom I can only assume dislikes Sonny Emory entirely (I kid; I kid. I’m sure Bobby would have been there if he could).
Francine Reed was devine, and Sonny’s band surprised me. So good. We were close enough to see Bruce’s every move. He dedicated “Sunflower Cat” to Welnick.
Si: Bruce didn’t bite on my request for the 80s demo songs, but someone got “Every Little Kiss” out of him — a great little impromptu version that I hope he plays more often. It’s really a great song.
Chasingcars: Was your friend the blonde in the miniskirt that Bruce “followed” offstage? That cracked me up.

Participanthaha yes she was. It was a big moral dilemma, she didn’t want to leave but really needed to. I reassured her he would jam for at least 10 more minutes, not thinking he would do what he did. Gotta love it though

ParticipantHey Bruce Nation! I’m a tella ya! You missed something special! Being a native of Atlanta, I’ve seen many shows at Center Stage, but what a surprise! I had a hunch others would show being a charity event for Sonny. What do you think? Does this rank up with Biltmore last year? Would this be a great venue for a private show?

ParticipantI have talked to someone who confirmed that he will torrent the show in a week or so.
It would speed things up if someone could provide him with a setlist for the Sonny Emory set. Can anyone help out with that?

ParticipantWillS, while I don’t have the setlist for the Sonny Emory set, I am interested in the torrent of the show we were just at. When it is available, where do we find the torrent?

ParticipantHey Si! Been trying to e-mail you, but e-mails gettings kicked back. I’m sorry but I was not prepared to write down setlist. I just assumed someone else would do it. Sorry!!
Someone has got to have it. Maybe everyone was so surprised that they forgot. Next time I promise to be a better Boy Scout and be prepared.

Okay you guys, you’ll have to elaborate a little more on this (and the whole concert, for that matter) for those of us that weren’t there!
June 15, 2006 at 7:36 am #26410deluge
ParticipantAllisa, in the middle of a song, the woman in the miniskirt got up from her front row seat and walked by the stage – Bruce wa all bug-eyed as he checked her out while she was walking by, he hammed it up and rubbernecked, watching her as she walked by. She had no idea he was doing this, but the crowd did. When she came back in, Bruce said something like, “You missed the best part!”, referring how she had unknowingly become part of the show.

Diary Post from JV:
June 10, 2006
Atlanta, GA.
Hello fellow cosmic travelers:-)
I hope all is well with everyone. We are on the verge of a new musical journey. And I for one, cannot wait for us to take the first step.
This past Saturday night was a very special concert put on by Sonny Emory. (Yes sports fans, our Sonny). Sonny put on his very first drum camp and our concert was to be the cherry on top of the cake. This was all to benefit keeping music in the schools.(Sonny is so special;-). It was a great day, and the whole band was there for Son-Yom-Ritz. (Our pet name for Sonny)
Bruce was in rare form both playing and singing. You can tell that Bruce has been practicing a lot for the jazz record that he is recording. His piano chops are killing. And the band was cooking from the first note.
JT was sounding great, Doug just keeps getting better and Sonny was smoking. Yours truly, well I was just trying to keep up. The crowd was loud and we love them that way. We only played an hour and a half but, it was more than enough.
Before we hit the stage Sonny’s band started things off. If you ever hear that Sonny is performing somewhere, do yourself a favor and check him out.
The band was hot. Sonny had a friend of ours playing drums in his band. And, at one point they traded solos. These two blew my mind. I am still running around looking for pieces of brain.
It was also great seeing Carey Wilhelm at the show. It is so cool seeing face that means something to you. I hope to see as many faces as possible this summer.
Until then. You all take care now ya hear:-) We gone party like it’s
You know the rest.See ya soon,
Your Host with the Most… The Dapper Dancer…….. The Chocolate Bunny Rabbit:-)

I’m glad somebody got the set list up. I feel like we’ve already experienced the private show you’ve been promoting, David.
As a fan of the last two albums, I have to admit, I do wish Bruce would play more of those songs.
But the show was outstanding.

Hey Will, any word on the torrent? I haven’t seen it on etree… or is a copy of the show somewhere else like Rick’s server?

I’m not aware of him posting it anywhere yet. He mentioned planning to tape it on a tapers’ board I frequent, and I asked him later and he confirmed that he had taped it and planned to torrent it. Usually, folks on that board announce their torrents there when they’re up, so I doubt it’s up yet.
Especially because shortly before the show, his house got broken into. He didn’t lose much, but I’m sure he’s a little busy dealing with the followup to that. And with that background I don’t intend to pester him.
