ParticipantHey man! Just booked the hotel! Very excited. Sent a couple emails with pics from the Biltmore event your way. Take a look

ParticipantSo… when and where should we meet up? On actual event days, it might be a zoo to get together down in the area where everything is going on. The Tap Room and Goodfella’s and Goody’s and Marker 20 are all pretty much at “ground zero” for Bay Days activities, so they might best be avoided. For those of you who live in the area, do you have any ideas or suggestions? I was thinking originally of McFadden’s at The Power Plant on Friday, but they have a DJ and sometimes a band on Friday night, so it might be a little loud for a meetup — or maybe not. Thoughts?

KeymasterIs there anywhere we can book a table or two?
I have no idea about the actual location or concert venue.

ParticipantI’ll be there. Planning on coming into town on Saturday morning. Also trying to talk my mom into coming, she’s thinking about it. So looking forward to the mother of all meetups, and some great music too. Who’s got the can of hurricane repellent?
August 19, 2009 at 3:33 pm #30975MVF
ParticipantI suspect I will step on a couple of toes for this one, but it IS a true account…
To keep the hurricanes at bay (no pun intended), we just need to ask Pat Robberson to pray the hurricane away. He did this for many “near misses” way back when I lived in Virginia Beach.
Another way to keep the hurricanes/ tropical storms/ tropical depressions; etc. at bay would be to schedule a truly kickin’ concert and then invite the Forum to attend… and then cancel the show.
… worked last year…signed,
MVF, aka Miss Virginia Former; aka Teresa; aka the chick who dances on the stage; aka….oh h*ll, just call me whatever you want
that’s what DPD does 😆btw, where IS Mr. DPD now days?????

ParticipantOur good friend, Si wrote:Is there anywhere we can book a table or two?I have no idea about the actual location or concert venue.
Unless anyone else has a better idea, I’ll get the folks at McFadden’s to hold a table or two for folks to get together on Friday night (the night before the show). I play poker over there on Tuesday nights, and Lisa and I like to listen to the guy who plays acoustic guitar on Friday nights, and they know me fairly well, so I know they’ll take care of us. Of course, I’m open to other ideas…

ParticipantI will probably not get there until Sat. morn.
but I WILL be staying over on Sat. night.
In fact, I may stay over a couple of days, seeing as I don’t have a job to go to. You know, unemployment sounds all good and well, but I don’t recommend it to anybody….. I mean, I’ve already done the spring cleaning, caught up on my reading, made Christmas gifts for everybody (all I can afford), etc. If I were independently wealthy, I would become a Noisemakers roadie…….Hey, Rich,
Where did your tag line come from? I like, I like!August 23, 2009 at 2:28 am #30978rdiakun

Participantsi_twining wrote:I don’t believe I’m in until Saturday morning either, but I’ll check that.I see from the Bay Days listing that the Bruce/Ricky show is 6:00 pm and the Bruce/Noisemakers show is 8:00 pm. I guess we should come up with some plan of attack for “The Mother Of All Meetups”. To add to the overall Bruce connections, the 3:00 pm performance is Robbin Thompson, a Richmond-area music icon who had a couple of hits in the early 80s (“Candy Apple Red”, “Sweet Virginia Breeze”) who was one of two Virginia artists of note (the other being, of course, our Mr. Hornsby) who shared the stage with Bruce Springsteen last year (I think) when he played in Richmond, as Robbin Thompson used to play in bands with Springsteen in his early days when he hung around Richmond. OK, it’s an indirect connection, but a connection nonetheless… and I’m sure he and Bruce are quite well acquainted with each other. Either way, Robbin Thompson has been doing some very nice acoustic work lately and should put on a good show.
Should we try to meet up early enough to occupy the “Gold Row” area for one, two, or all three shows? The “Gold Row” is $5 per show per person, and you get a seat and access to the VIP Refreshment Area, whatever that is. It also gives us a chance to find each other more easily, rather than having to hunt through crowds and look for a blue ball cap or a purple soccer shirt or something. My thought is that we might want to try to snag these seats at least an hour before each show, so that would mean getting together around 2:00 if we do all three, or around 5:00 for the latter 2. How’s that sound?

KeymasterThanks for picking this up, Rich
Now that I’ve rechecked (and re-rechecked) my plans, it looks like I’m in town on 11th.
Your VIP for $5 sounds great – I’m up for an early meet and then waiting for others at 5pm if they’ll let us!

ParticipantHi to the Gang of Hornsby Heads in Hampton!
I’ve booked a room with 2 beds at the Crowne Plaza – nearest hotel to the venue I’m told. The friend for one queen bed couldn’t come, so it’s available for anyone to split the room.
I come in Friday noon, so we could meet up there any time and use it as home base – keep supplies or take a break.
lizbethup@earthlink.net will get me on Blackberry or computer.
I am SO looking forward to back to back shows!

ParticipantDefinitely like the idea of $5 Gold seats! Reserving the table @ McFadden’s is great if we’re done in plenty of time. I want to be down front and dirty ASAP.
