KeymasterI just got in… I’ll be up for some wristbands etc, but i doubt they’ll give out multiple ones? It’s an idea to eet around there at idday, then.

ParticipantThey will sell multiple wristbands because I originally thought I needed one for each show so bought 2 for tonight. They took one back when I discovered I needed only one for the whole day.
Would you like me to pick up an extra then meet up tomorrow?

Keymasteri need to pick up six – for my friend David, Rich and his wife, Miles and Jane, and me.
If you happen to see us there at midday, we’ll pick them up, otherwise if you could do the honours until then, I’ll see you right when we catch up.

ParticipantGreat!
I’ll get 7 tickets and we’ll meet-up then or later. I’ll have on the baby-blue shirt that Bryan got for last year’s non-gig. I’m taking a back-pack and shawl to hold some seats < Steinway side.

ParticipantDid y’all see the NY Times short review of “Levitate” from Jon Pareles?
“BRUCE HORNSBY AND THE NOISEMAKERS
History meets hoedowns, and modernism visits the roadhouse in Bruce Hornsby’s music, which treats Americana as the broadest possible canvas. The songs on his new album “Levitate,” can be as rootsy as Mr. Hornsby’s accordion and dulcimer and as contemporary as a programmed drumbeat. Material from “Levitate” is the basis for a prospective Broadway show, “SCKBSTD,” that will have to be pretty cosmic to match the album. Tuesday. Verve Forecast. (J. P.)”http://www.nytimes.com/2009/09/13/arts/ … plist.html
J.P. GETS da’ man. Hoorah! Hooray!

ParticipantI got my wristbands for seats for the shows. Life is good. It turns out Si already got them for my wife and I, so I hooked up a co-worker of mine, Nate Nelson (another musician – wonderful composer skills – I may have to post some of his music for y’all to hear), with Si to buy the 2 extras off of him. I tried, unsuccessfully, to upgrade the memory in the computer today, so… now it’s time to shower and head off to Bay Days to enjoy some tunes. Hearing the band do their soundcheck, and seeing Bruce arrive in his silver SUV, got me totally pumped up! Damn, life is good.
By the way, I gave Simon the “dime tour” of Hampton last night, so he could get his bearings. I hope it helped, my friend. After 10 years of knowing you online, it’s so cool to finally meet you in person. And I hope you were able to find your football game on tv somewhere.
Oh yeah, and I told Si about my idea for the next Bruce covers project, which he said hasn’t gotten that much traction lately. Hopefully, it comes to be… I’m thinking of doing “Down The Road Tonight” lyric set to the background music of “Riot In Cell Block #9”, or some ariation thereof. It took long enough to get an idea I actually liked, so now it’s time to get working on it. But not until I see the shows tonight
Next… making sure the digital camera is charged up… and a shower (‘cuz I’d hate to stink up the place!!!).
Rich
Today’s silly lyric quote comes courtesy of an old Nat King Cole tune, and is quite appropriate for today…
It’s just a little street where old friends meet,
I’d love to wander back… someday. To you, it may be old, and sort of tumbled down,
but it means a lot to folks in my hometown.Although I’m rich or poor, I still feel sure
I’m welcome as the flowers in May.It’s just a little street where old friends meet,
and treat you in the same old way.September 13, 2009 at 9:19 am #31018bryandunn
ParticipantFinally – got to meet Si! I got to meet Lizzie last year, so it was good to see her again, and I got to touch MVF (David – twas only a handshake my friend!). You guys rock, hope you had a blast in our neck of the woods!

KeymasterI shared in that same blast – more than made up for missing out last year. Photos will follow.
Selfishly, the highlights for me were meeting up with Rich for the first time, and catching up with Melissa Smith (Reagan) and David amongst a slew of old friends and new. I spent some quality time with great people, which is as important as the show.
Thanks to all!
Pics and setlist coming soon… (may need help with the latter!) 😳

ParticipantBRUUUCE.COM ROCKS!~!~!~!~!~!
Truly loved meeting so many friends from this site, not to mention actually being graced by the presence of THE Si Twining!!!
Lizzie, you sure know all the ropes to having THE ultimute Bruce experience.
Karen, I don’t know if we enticed you to join our little group here, but sure enjoyed your company.
Same goes for the guy that I have met so many times at so many BRH concerts, and still can’t remember his name, DESPITE that front row ticket in Charlotte! 🙄
Bryan, I, too, enjoyed that touch, and do not plan to wash that body part.
If you had been on MY side of the fence, you could have gotten a full body hug!
DPD?????????
So glad Lizzie got the full set list. She got it right, too, ’cause I watched her write most of it.
I know I met and spoke with many more people from this site, and others. But after the third Seagram’s Lemonade, all I could remember were the songs!!!!!
BTW — Big Rock Candy Mountain/Children of Zion/ Candy Mountain Run started off the concert…do I owe someone a drink????????

ParticipantDarn! I missed out on running into the infamous (so famous, she’s “in”?) MVF??? Aaaarrrggggggggghhhhh! Well, meeting Lizzie and Aaron was just pure, incredibly cool dumb luck… I was standing all the way at the back of the line to get the CD signed after the show, and I noticed Lizzie’s tshirt (the cool blue one that Bryan made up for last year’s meetup when I missed everyone by mere minutes). Then, the “inquiring minds want to know” thing took over, and… voila! New/old friends
Oh yeah, and the really cool part was, when Bruce was signing my CD and I told him my name, he asked, “are you the guy that did ‘Passing Through’ on ‘Shadowhands’? That was cool.” Does it get any better?

ParticipantI took one look at the 400 people in line for autographs, and took my signed teddy bear and went home! Wish now that I had stayed!

Wish now that I had stayed! Were you the woman with the white teddy bear in the backpack (or what looked to be a backpack)?? If so, I think my wife spoke with you for a second while she was up near the stage by the speaker on the side where Bruce was playing. Lisa was wearing a red t-shirt and a ball cap. She collects teddy bears, so someone with a bear was particularly cool to her.

ParticipantTHAT WAS ME!!!!
Fred the Bear has been autographed by everybody in the band ‘cept Sonny. It has also been signed by a select few SiBs and BiBs.I made a several bears, but there didn’t seem to be much interest. Would your wife be interested in a “bare” bear? Send me a PM about her interest, and maybe we can make a deal. I am currently spending all free time making various bears, decorating straw hats (Williamsbuerg style), and working on some pieces of jewelry. I am renting a booth at our local Fall Festival (10/10/09) and am hastily trying to increase stock. See what happens when you lay off a teacher!!! 😥
