ParticipantI noticed that Bruce is doing some dates with Bela Fleck & The Flecktones in late July and August. Also The Flecktones just released their entire Summer Tour schedule. One of these BFFT dates is August 11 @ The Biltmore Estate. Both bands have the very next night scheduled at Chastain Park in Atlanta…so it doesn’t seem like too much of a stretch to think Bruce will also be at the Biltmore show…especially since he loves it there!
Anyone know for sure?

I’m copied into Bruce’s management e-mails, and nothing is confirmed for the Biltmore. Sorry!

Nothing yet confirmed – I prefer to stay out of these conversations as they change by the minute… but dates are published on BH.com as soon as they are confirmed!

I would have thought so – but have not seen anything.

ParticipantI would love to see Bruce at the Biltmo. Its where one of my favorite movies was filmed, ‘Private Eyes’ with Don Knotts and Tim Conway.
Anyways, I would love to make the 9 hour journey down south to see Bruce play at such a beautiful place, but I was looking at some of the pics that fans took of a past show and it looks like a bore fest as everybody is sitting down.
So I don’t think it would be worth sitting in a car 18 hour roundtrip to sit around while Bruce and the Makers are bustin stanky grooves to a lazy crowd.
I know there are probably a few spots on the side or back with some lone dancers but really sit down shows are drainers and usually the musicians lose enthusiasm with a stiff crowd.
Man, I would so bad love to go but it just ain’t my style or worth the money to be sitting around.
I hope everyone that is lucky enough to go has a blast at this beautiful venue.May 14, 2011 at 3:05 am #32516Takavl

I know there are probably a few spots on the side or back with some lone dancers but really sit down shows are drainers and usually the musicians lose enthusiasm with a stiff crowd.I had to laugh at this for 2 reasons —
1) I’ve looked at the pix, too…and from what I can tell quite a bit of the Biltmore crowd (despite the presence of many oldtimers from THIS list) DOES appear to be there for the refreshments, if ya know what I mean…
2) Damn, GG, you actually have the stones to ADMIT to not only liking, but having as a favorite flick of yours an offering with Knotts and Conway…I don’t know what to say, except for “Bravo, sir!” 😆
In the NE, I can’t say that I’ve ever been to a BH show that featured a lame crowd…searching, searching…maybe the one with the most potential to be lame, but that failed in lamitude, was The Egg; even there, though, peeps were busting moves in the aisles and narrowly avoiding falling down the somewhat precipitously angled steps…(Much of the bad mojo from me re. this venue is that there just ain’t nowhere good ’round there to get some eats and drinks. They rape you for brownies and Guinness in the Egg itself; outside they have security, well, ’cause it’s the cap. Otherwise, you can drive a bit and compete with the locals for parking, free popcorn, and overpriced beer at any of the pubs.
)
Lowell is tops for summer shows, at least when it ain’t raining. Even with townies camping out and giving you the evil eye as you toe a towel thrown down at 8:55 a.m…. 🙄
At Foxwoods, BH fomented a dance revolution which “security” struggled in vain to contain. P’raps another venue with possible stifling capabilities was the Berklee Performance Center, but I’ll be damned if that hall isn’t one of the best places to see a show. It’s a cliche, but seriously people, each seat in the house looked to be awesome. I can’t complain because I had a 2nd row seat on JT’s side, but everywhere in the theater offered a great seat. Not to mention that, being in Beantown, the townies were screaming requests out; a verrrrrrrrrry vocal crowd. Not much dancing, but lots of comments and such…

ParticipantHey GG! I know what you mean about lame crowds affecting the performance, so let me put your fears at ease. Biltmo’ will be GA seating and there is plenty of room up by the stage for you to dance and enjoy the entire show. I had this concern before our 1st Biltmo’ show in ’09, since this was also my wife’s first full band show, and I wanted her to get the full effect by having the freedom to dance and dance we did! Not once did anyone from Biltmo’ say anything about standing in front of the stage and Bruce fed off the crowd from the get-go due to the enormous amount of requests submitted that night. Not to mention, the scenery surrounding the Biltmo’ is unlike any other concert venue and is worth the long drive on its own.
So the bottom line is this, you just have to show up and get your dance on!

ParticipantHey, I’m looking for a dance partner for the Biltmo’ Sho’. I might even buy you a drink!
BTW, I STILL plan to be first in line again this year. If a reunion is planned, the venue will have to be there. As Queen of the Biltmo’ Sho’s I think I should be able to dictate where and when a reunion would be. We should somehow commemorate the tenth anniversary of the first Biltmo’ Sho’. Maybe we should have a fight in the pit in honor of the occasion. 😆
Unofficial poll —- who was a the FIRST show?? Also, how many of the shows have you attended? There were five in all. Obviously, I’ve been to all five, and have had pictures taken with Bruce and the band each time, and I’ve been backstage three times. Not that I am bragging or anything.

ParticipantHey guys!
Based on some of the comments about pictures, some history of the Biltmore show must be “called to order”!…..
I will admit that MVF is right, admitedly, for once and only once and by mere circumstance! 😆 …..As far as my memory recollects, which is another story in itself! 😆 …..There has been five shows at Biltmore.
All the seating use to be “reserved” and there was actually a fence put up in front of the stage, but to my understanding, Bruce did not like that so……Two shows ago, all the seating became “general admission” with no fence and plenty of space in front of the stage. Thus the pictures you saw was from the “reserved seating” days and not from the “general admission” days! Get the picture? 😆
Just a little “history” for whatever’s it’s worth, from the whatever’s it’s worth department! 😆
Still havin’ a ball!

ParticipantOnly been to one…but from my experience it was great. Wouldn’t have trading that night for nothing. Thanks to MVF had a great seat or standing/dancing area I should say. I am doing it again. Since MVF is going to be queen..I vote for myself as assistance to the queen and I shall be bringing along miss princess Abigail…that is if no one ojbects.
Must take votes now.. 😆

P.S. Its gotta be good after all I wouldn’t put up with riding a greyhound bus all the way from Texas..just for the heck of it. Can’t miss this show!! Its worth where ever you come from and how ever you can get there!!

ParticipantWell, of course Princess Abigail must come.
One of my favorite pictures is of a young man about five years old that I picked up and sat on the edge of the stage before the show began. He just looked so tickled. In fact, I think he is the only fan that has made it on stage at a Biltmo’ Sho’. We will make sure that Princess Abigail will be the second. 💡

Hey, we need a ” Bruce” inspired name for Princess Abigail. Any suggestions?? 💡 💡
