ParticipantHere I had assumed Monica couldn’t go herself for some reason but I see on Bruce’s site it got cancelled. I wonder if it was for lack of sales.

ParticipantHey lady,
There’s no need to fear!!! MVF is here!! 😆
Talked with your hubby and I think we have it ALL taken care of. I should be cruising into Asheville in time to meet your bus at 8:30 am Saturday. And, if you don’t mind HoJo’s, then you can share a room with me. And I should be able to get you back to the bus station on Sunday.Hey, babe, that’s what friends (and SiBs) are for!!!

Participantbabytweety,
So glad to hear you’re going to be able to see Bruce this time around after all. You were the first one I thought of when I heard Memphis got cancelled.
The weather report has changed yet again and it looks like the rain will stay away.
The countdown to Biltmo’ is ON!

ParticipantThe reason the weather is looking up is because I’ve been doing my non-rain dance with my bells and whistles on. 🙄

ParticipantMary,
Your efforts are appreciated! Keep on dancin’, we need clear skies for Atlanta and Biltmo’!

Participantoh my gosh, you’re going to be at the Atlanta show as well?? The south will never be the same. Can’t wait!!
July 21, 2009 at 6:57 pm #30865molomolomolo
ParticipantActually, I won’t be at the Atlanta show. Sorry to disappoint. 😆
I was just thinking good thoughts for those of you who will be at the Atlanta show. Plus, I don’t want the rain to do any damage to your bells and whistles! 😯

ParticipantDue to popular demand, we will move the meet-up time at the Veranda back to 3:00 with a group picture at 4:30. Please don’t be there before 3:00 because the Inn may not have my guest list till then.
For guest coming to the Inn, if you don’t want to pay for valet parking, park in the lower lot before you reach the Inn and just walk up. Walk in the front door and ask for the Veranda. That simple!
Get fired up!

Lake Lanier, GAThanks for arranging all of this, Mr. Day! You are a true “Road Scholar”!
Mrs. molo3 and I will be a little late to the soiree. I promised her we would check out the wine and chocolate (class/demonstration??) at the Winery. So, we should be there by 3:30 at the latest, grinning ridiculously.

ParticipantI’m not sure if I can make it at 3, not sure how long I’ll be on the house tour, but I’ll be there by 430 for sure and maybe earlier than that. So looking forward to Saturday.

ParticipantI need to finalize the guest list for the Inn. Larry, you coming? Todd, you coming? Rich, that’s probably asking way too much! 😆 Wish you all could make it!
Looks like a good crowd!
You don’t want to miss it!
That’s my story and I’m stickin to it! 😆

ParticipantDD, the Czar. ..
You’re gathering early. I’ve got plans for the winery at 3, meal at the Bistro at 4-5(30)ish, then up to the Veranda. What time do you plan on leaving the Inn for the show? Catching the shuttle? Not sure how many guests you can have on your list, but if you need more than allowed, let me know (i’m staying at the Inn).

ParticipantDavid..make sure you add me. I know MVF was supposed to tell you to add me, but I want to make sure to tell you myself. I’ll be coming with her. So nice to have one of my sister’s in Bruce watching out for me.

ParticipantMarc, from Cincy, I know you will be there!
Just make sure your “back side” is there for group pics! Any friends you have coming not staying at the Inn, make sure you have a guest list when you check in.
Monica, I already have you “covered”! 😆
The first shuttle leaves at 6:00 and gates open at 6:45. Shuttles run from the Inn every half hour.
If you are not staying at the the Inn, you can either take a shuttle or drive to the House where you car will be after the show. Shuttles run from the House back to the Inn on a regular basis. If you take a shuttle back to the Inn, you always have the option of coming to the meet-up after the meet-up! 😆 You have many options.
FYI, from the Inn to the House is about 3-4 miles. It’s a big place!
Get the picture…..If you look up big in dictionary…..You know the rest! 😆

ParticipantMonica,
You’re in good hands with MVF as a “concert buddy.” Lots of fun is in store! And if you’re overcome with a bout of shyness when it’s time to dance, she’ll help you out there, too.
Of course,David is the king (or should I say Czar?) of meet-up hosts. You will definitely have a good time at the Inn.
Enjoy Asheville!

ParticipantFrom past experiencre—
The LINE to get into the show always starts about 3-4 o’clock. I should know—I’ve been first in line for the past four Biltmo’ Shos. I am willing to sacrifice that honor so I can hang out with ya’ll.July 22, 2009 at 3:21 pm #30875molomolomolo
ParticipantMVF,
We appreciate your sacrifice!
Besides, we wouldn’t want you to be left out of the group photo on the Veranda! At past Biltmo’ shows, did Bruce honor his tradition of inviting gals on stage to dance? Mrs. molo3 is looking forward to that opportunity. Her only other Bruce show was a solo show, so obviously no stage dancing occurred.

ParticipantFrom my experience, as long as you are at the House by 6:45 when the gates open, you should be able to get a great place to sit or stand.

4:00 Meet-up on the Veranda at the Inn
4:30 Group pictures
5:00 Dinner is served at the Inn (Food is always available on the Veranda)
6:00 First shuttle leaves the Inn to the House
6:45 Gates open
8:00 Bruuuce!Get fired up!

ParticipantBad news for Mrs. Molo. Once you see the set-up of the stage, you’ll understand why they can’t let us dance on stage. At the first one, some chick managed to climb over the amps and get on stage, but security managed to wrestle her down.
I’d like to make an addition to THE SCHEDULE, David—
9:00 am – 12:00 or 1:00 — Excursion to “the shops”. Meet at 9:00 at THE McDonald’s at the Biltmore Villiage. ( if you are interested in going, let MVF know ASAP).
July 23, 2009 at 6:54 pm #30878molomolomolo
ParticipantMVF,
That is understandable that the stage would be set up that way, and it’s probably at Biltmore’s request, most likely for insurance purposes. If Bruce had any say in it at all I’m sure he would allow for people to come up and boogie with him.
The shopping thing would be right up Mrs. molo3’s alley, but I think she is determined to really explore Biltmore Saturday and so we probably won’t make it to “the shops”.

ParticipantMade into Asheville about 2 hours ago. Weather today is picture perfect with more of the same expected for tomorrow!
Sending out good thoughts for our friends heading to the show in Atlanta tonight!
Heading out soon for a “night on the town” with Mrs. molo3. That first beer is calling my name!

KeymasterJust been sent the setlist (now up) from Matt Saltus – now why am I not surprised to see Tango King on the setlist?!

ParticipantAlrighty, then…
Biltmore was a decidedly ….ummm…errr, different show. Bruce and the boys were in rare form, and they have never sounded so good. I understand that it had been awhile since they had played together — it was either Doug or J.V. who said that the band was a bit “rusty” (keep in mind that it was very late, I’m getting pretty old, and they were serving pina coladas and strawberry daquiries {sp?}), but I know it was one or the other of them. ANYWAY….. I don’t know what Bobby Read has been up to, but I saw him smile and joke around last night more than last the ten concerts put together, while J.T. was uncharacteristicly subdued (look it up, David). Bruce and the band played a few songs in R.S.’s honor {can’t you just see him and Jerry Garcia playing t0ogether??}It was great to see so many of our SiBs and BiBs. Was the first time I was able to put faces to all these names I keep typing.
Let’s see, I need to tie up a few loose ends….
David – do I owe you for the glass of wine on the veranda? And why were you spo late getting tpo thew concert?? 😮
Molomolomolo – Enjoyed meeting you and Mrs. Molo. I hope that it is just the beginning of a beautiful friendship (who said that?)
Kerry and Mary – I will admit right now that I can’t remember who was who –never give me two similar sounding names at one time!
Gerald and Jonathan – Sorry Bruce didn’t play “Fortunate Son”. Just know that every time I hear that song, I think of you. And Jonathan- we’re gonna have to put a brick on your head to keep you from growing so much. Send me a PM with your address – I have something for Jonathan
Monica, sweet Monica– First—the key WAS in the car, it was hidden under the bears in the back seat. I hope that you will believe me when I say “…you would not understand, this is not how I am…” Honest, this past weekend was like a nightmare from h*ll. I’m still picking gravel out of my teeth after that little “trip” 😆 Thank you for getting us backstage…you were very sweet to include me. I will send you your sweater. Please send me some pics.

ParticipantMan, oh man! Just getting settled in after the looong drive back home. What a phenomenal day/night at the Biltmore! It was indeed fantastic getting to finally meet the fine people on this board that were in attendance.
Big props to Mr. David Day for hosting the meet-up on the Veranda! During the meet-up, we were witness to “a real soaker” of a rainstorm blowing in off the mountains (stay off that rail, Mary!) I can’t remember who snapped the group photos, by that point the wine and a few Vandy’s (right, David?) had begun eroding my ability to store data in the brain! Anyway, hopefully there will be a way to share those photos with everyone. Say “Bruuuce!”
Thanks to MVF for the lovely gifts and the chance to give you my autograph (that never gets old!)
SMP and her husband were great company both at the meet-up and the show! Thanks to Mr. SMP for monitoring Mrs. molo3’s belonging so she could spend the concert up at the rail snapping photos!
Zann, it was great talking to you at the meet-up. Not sure where you ended up for the show, but sadly we did not reconnect that night. Safe travels as you head back up to the Northeast.
As for the show, wow! How do you summarize the energy, emotion, playfulness and exuberence displayed by Bruce and the Noisemakers that night? Even though Bruce said he was in “half voice”, every song was given proper attention and it didn’t appear, to me at least, that he was holding back at all.
The “new” material, Black Rats and Continents Drift, were splendid and builds on the already high anticipation for the new record coming out soon.
Bruce seemed to be having a blast up there with the guys and was very connected with the audience and what we were up to. At the point where he was center stage, for Defenders?, he commented on all of us snapping photos of him with our cell phones. “It’s cell phone world over here,” said Bruce. “There are so many awful pictures of me already on the Internet, why not put out a few more.”
I can’t say when I’ll have another opportunity to catch Bruce live and in person, but there were certainly enough memories to take away from this show and the events prior to last quite a while!
Can’t wait to hear from everyone else!
