ParticipantWow… what a show! As I have mentioned in other threads, I have “almost” seen a couple of shows before this one – so it was nice to see a full one. Although I enjoyed the whole thing – I really thought this was almost like two different shows, with the post intermission portion flowing better and feeling more “live” – while the first half felt more like a studio recording session or something.
Continents Drift is a truely special song… I would put it in the same class as
“Fortunate Son” – which I really hoped to hear flowing into Comfortably Numb. (and no I wasn’t one of the three drunk guys yelling “fortunate son!!!” during every quiet moment of the show) Standing on the Moon was very touching as well. The Biltmore venue was wonderful… I only wish we had been able to take the time to make the pre-show gathering at the Inn. We didn’t get to Asheville until around 4:00 on Saturday afternoon. We stayed last night and then did the whole estate tour today… I hope that we’ll have the time to come up a day or two early the next time he plays there!

ParticipantAll I can say it WOW, what a time!!
Atlanta was a nice warm-up, but Biltmo really got things cookin’.
Got to finally see and speak to JT for the first time since my wife and I shared a flight w/ him to California in route to our honeymoon in Hawaii(2005). For the first time Bruce played my request, not just one, but two (Down the Road Tonight and This Too Shall Pass), and I’ve seen thousands of shows in my life, but I don’t think I’ve ever been to a cooler venue. My only regret was not being able to meet a few of you guys. We were rushed the whole weekend between, traffic on the way into ATL and mining and hiking in Franklin, NC prior to pulling into Asheville. Wish I could hit a few more of these summer gigs, guest I just have to wait till fall and hope for a bunch within driving distance. I know for sure I will never miss a Biltmo gig again.July 27, 2009 at 4:07 pm #30886PHRoberts
ParticipantChris… those are some great pics! I couldn’t help browsing your other folders – some of those Christmas cards are hilarious!

ParticipantThanks Heath – I appreciate that.
Here’s my HD video clips! They’re great but not nearly long enough!

ParticipantBTW – That was MY rat that Bruce honed in on for requests. That makes three times I’ve sent something up to the stage that he has commented on during a show. Now if only it would show up on one of the Request Collages……..

ParticipantHey Everybody – I’m loving all the chatter about the Biltmore show. It sounds like everyone had a great time and I’m not surprised to read again and again how awesome it was. I haven’t had an opportunity to see a show there, but one day I will! It all gets me jazzed for my mini tour that starts tomorrow…Red Bank, Englewood, and Peekskill. I’ll be sure to report back.

ParticipantPretty jealous out here and beginning to wonder why I moved to Colorado … until I noticed Mr. Dunn’s latest post in the Tour Dates thread: “Wednesday, August 12, 2009 @ 7:00p.m. — E-Town w/ Bruce Hornsby in Boulder, Colorado.”
E-Town is a great show broadcast on NPR since 1991 and presented locally by 97.3 KBCO — one of the best radio stations out there. Their Web site details the event as a “live radio show taping hosted by Nick and Helen Forster featuring music and conversation with Bruce Hornsby and another musical guest to be announced.”
Too bad it’s a solo show, but general admission is only $20 bucks or so — good news to me!

Wish you could have been there with us, Vic!
We get the “Etown” show on our local non-comm station here in Louisville and it is always interesting and entertaining. Those shows are taped for later broadcast, correct? I’ll have to do some research to see when Bruce’s taping will actually air on my station here.
An evening with Bruce is a bargain at any price!

ParticipantWell said, mmm! I hate I missed Asheville. I’ve been to the Biltmore a few times, but I have yet to make it to a Bruce show there. Sounds like a fine time was had by all as usual at the Biltmo’. I’ll make it back there eventually…
I will try to get the scoop as to when this E-Town show will air/be available. We got tickets today, by the way, even though the Boulder Theatre web site says they won’t go on sale until tomorrow.
So anybody over there who wants to get a cheap Frontier Airlines flight out West for the show (which Road Scholars will it be-?!?
can order show tickets as of now!

Participantok, I had submitted this last night but for some reason it blanked out the screen and I lost everything and it was quite long. So I will attempt at it once again:
I first wanted to give out a HUGE thank you to Mr. David P. Day for arranging all the meet-ups prior to the Atlanta and Biltmore show.
What fun it was to meet everyone!! Jackie, while I was bummed you were not there, it was wonderful to meet adorable Amber (how can you not love her?), picture queen Carey (she said I looked familiar and I’m wondering if it’s from a picture of me at her local post office), Mike and Donna (great people to converse with plus they’re dog lovers so that’s an A+ in my book right there), Dave and Judy, who we ran into after the Atlanta show and had a late-night cocktail with them, Mr. I-didn’t-get-my chest-painted Molo3 (I think he liked me even without my bells and whistles on) and his lovely wife Karen, who was great to chat with, Miss 29 hour bus ride Monica herself (yes, you do deserve an award), Miss Virginia I-can-make-anything Former (thanks for the bracelet!!!), stage manager travelin’ Zann, Mark (aka Prince) and Maria (who was amongst a few that could pick up that although I live in Denver, that’s not where my accent was from. The Wisconsin must have come out of me.) and last but not least, Mr. David I-got-ya-covered Day. What a bunch of top notch people to pal around with. You guys added that much more to the wknd. It was nice to be amongst other Bruce fans that we all shared the same interest in. I know there were a few others from the Atlanta show that I met and I apologize for forgetting your name.
I was proud that I understood most of your southern accents (those of you that were from that area) and also that I got in and out of the south without any bbq.
Jackie, I know you’re disappointed in me. I’m disappointed in myself that I never had a Georgia peach. I should be slapped for that.
I took lots of fun pictures so if any of you in our group would like a copy or want to see some of them, just shoot me an email at mcockshoot@wildbluecorp.com. I did send them to Si as well so hopefully he’ll post them.
Like Vic mentioned, I, too, will be at the Boulder show. Vic, thanks for the heads-up that they were on sale today. I had marked my calendar for tomorrow to buy the tics but I got mine as soon as I saw your post. I saw Bruce there years ago when he did the etown taping and it was a lot of fun. He sang and told stories in between. The guest for that one was Rickie Lee Jones and I think she was on some kind of trip as she was bizarro. I thought it was an odd guest appearance for Bruce so I’m hoping for someone who I can enjoy this go around. I’m sure etown is the one that picks the guests, not Bruce. Better yet, I would just prefer it to be Bruce.
Well, I’ve rambled on long enough. Thank you again David for all your hard work and look forward to many friendships down the road. Hey, where did I hear that before?
If any of you are ever in the Denver area, give me a hollar. If I’m too expensive, you can always bunk at Vic’s. 😆

Participantmmm–Wish I could make Bay Days. It’s the weekend before my 20th high school reunion, but I probably won’t make that, either! 😡
Mary–I hope we get a chance to meet in Boulder! Unfortunately, we won’t have time to meet-up beforehand, since we’ll be rushing up and back for the Wednesday show. 😥
But the format should make for an interesting night — and, one or two Road Scholars could probably fit in our humble abode!
Who’s making the trip out West?

Lake Lanier, GA[/quote]Wow, can you imagine? 1000 posts is an incredible number! It really is! We may have to test you, David, for “performance enhancing drugs”!
Maybe we can all petition Bruce to pen a song called “The Legend of David Day” in honor of your 1000th post here at Bruuuce.com. No matter what happens, it’s a well-deserved honor to be bestowed upon you, Mr. Day!
