KeymasterIt seems like Bobby Read appreciation week is a popular one! Since you all love him, I’d encourage you to pick up his Monkfish CD for cheap here.
Anyway, as a few of you have already left some praise of Bobby Read in this topic, how about you all leave a few words here, and I’ll make sure that he sees them.
Fire away!

That is a fantastic example of Bobby Read’s talent! When you listen to it, you might think, “Oh, that’s just another one of Bobby’s great solos.” This is like saying, “Oh, that’s just another one of Michelangelo’s great works of art.” He plays so consistently well, we may tend to take his talent for granted. (At least, this is my reaction sometimes…).
Some of my favorite Bobby Read moments:
*The Valley Road –Here Come The Noise Makers
*End Of The Innocence-December 2, 2004-Chicago, IL-Bruce Hornsby Live release
*any time he plays during The Tide Will Rise or The Show Goes OnJackie

Jackie is soo right!
Several of those songs are on NoiseMakers. Bobby shines in NoiseMakers! In fact, Bobby makes NoiseMakers what it is. Listen to NoiseMakers and think what it would sound like without Bobby. 😥
Thank you Bobby! ❗

Lake Lanier, GAPS I wish Tango King was on NoiseMakers! He makes that song too! ❗

ParticipantTongue In Cheek with Steve Kimock may be your best performance with Bruce I’ve ever heard.

ParticipantIn my opinion the greatest thing about Bobby’s solos is his feeling. He really knows when to make breaks between the tones! I always look forward to his solos. I.E. the solo on the dvd 3 nights on the town in Dreamland an gonna be some!! Thats 2 higlights for me. Also in Mirror on the wall is great. I enjoy his solos on the EWI more than the sax.
Best

ParticipantI had the pleasure of meeting Bobby back in 02. Outside the State Theatre in Kalamazoo MI. What a great person!!!! After playing over 2 1/2 hours straight, he took the time to finish putting his sax back on the tour bus and talk for a bit. He explained a joke that Bruce made on stage that night about Michael Jackson. Anyways Bobby is a real nice person who I am glad to say that I have meet, shook his hand, and got to talk with him a bit.
Thanks,

I’ve listened to it so many times now that I can sing/hum along to every note of the solo.

KeymasterI passed all of your comments and e-mails onto Bobby, who says in part:
Quote:Si – thanks so much for sending these along – always great to get feedback.Things are well and Mia is amazing, but I’m tired as hell. Got another new project in the works though, trying to keep cranking.
Thanks again – I appreciate the appreciation.
Bobby
