Participantwent ahead and got my tix today too. I don’t know if it’s a misprint or what but on Bruce’s site it says tickets are $48 but I got mine for $18. I got balcony seats in case I have to dance.

If you like to sit close, you’d better order your tickets by phone. Closest I could get online was Row N, but David said he got front row by calling the auditorium.
And yes, tickets are $21 for floor and $18 for balcony — very reasonable!
Where’s the meetup and hotel headquarters, DD? Hope to get to meet all these great new contributors to the site at Boone!

I’ve found a great local place for the meetup and need to check with a couple more local (non-chain) hotels.
It would be great to meet the new contributors!

ParticipantBoone Meetup & Hotels
I found a great local spot for our meetup! It is across the street from campus and easy walking distance to the venue and called Cafe Portofino.
Check out http://www.cafeportofino.net.As far as hotels, the Red Carpet Inn & the Scottish Inn are the least expensive I’ve found. They are next door to each other and about 2 blocks from campus. (If you make reservations at the Scottish Inn, mention “Hornsby” and receive a 10% discount.)
Check them out at http://www.boonelodging.com.Another option, but a little more expensive is the Broyhill Inn. I’m told it is on campus and thus close to the venue and Cafe Portofino. It is a local inn and top of a hill with great views of town and the mountains.
Check them out at http://www.broyhillinn.com.If anybody wants to “rough it”, the Blueridge Parkway is only a couple miles from town with plenty of camping. Make sure you call the Park Service for reservations. They will be full in the summer.
There it is! A lot of stuff for you to digest! I will fill you in with more details about our meetup as we get closer.

Nice work, David! Cafe Portofino looks great.
Is it just me, or are the hotels a little pricey in Boone? I guess they have the market cornered up there on the mountain! I’ll have to figure out what to do. Camping along the Parkway sounds kinds fun!
I was a bit bummed to hear the Noisemakers weren’t going to make it … maybe that’s why the tickets are cheaper? Oh well, another solo show will be great!

ParticipantNo Victor, it’s not just you, prices are very steep. Even the so called “lower tier” hotels are only a little bit cheaper than the Broyhill. I think it may have something to do with the season. I have like 18000 in Choice Hotel points and wanted to use them for one night but but they have differing rates. From now till May 15th they only wanted 12,000 points but from May 15th to Sept. 15th they jack it up to 20,000 points. I’m thinking about just one night at the Broyhill.
I was also bummed about the Noisemakers not being there, I REALLY wanted it to be a full blown show. But I’ve never seen a solo show so I won’t complain. Makes me wish I’d gotten floor seats now cuz there probably won’t be any dancing at a solo show…even in the balcony.
April 15, 2007 at 12:05 am #28162David Day
ParticipantHotels are kinda pricey, but considered “high season” for the area. As far as your other question about whether it is a solo show or Noisemakers show, I’ll let Vic tell you about the Atlanta “solo” show last year. I’m a telling ya!
I going to stick to my story and say it will be special either way! ❗
You don’t want to miss it! ❗

ParticipantHey guys,
As John Astin said when he appeared on “Night Court”, I had to go away for a little while, but now I’m back…..Thanks, David, for ALL the work you have done so far. I’ll try to keep up the “Greensboro” end of things. Here’s three kudos and a big cyber smooch for you!!
Jackie,

ParticipantCalling all rich people
I have my cheap-seats ticket for the Boone show. Due to some recent financial setbacks, I am looking for some to possibly carpool with to the Boone show. I live in Gibsonville, NC (just east of Greensboro) and could meet someone part way.
ALSO, Not that I sleep around, or anything
, but does anyone who is staying overnight in Boone after the show have an extra couch, cot, softly carpeted floor available to rent for the night cheap??? I promise that I don’t snore, sleepwalk, etc.
Thanks!!

ParticipantWhy, thank you, David. You know, I’ve always relied upon the kindess of strangers……. We’ll have to see who else will be staying in the hotel, and do a little meet-up on the side (perhaps room 714? Oh, I’ll be waiting). I’m still looking for someone who would like to carpool (bless her little kinky heart). I’m at exit 140 on 40/85 (come on back now, hon). Seems a shame to drive all that way alone (poor little ole thang) when I KNOW there are some FANatics in Raleigh/Chapel Hill/Durham.
By the way, I’m thinking of changing my “handle”. Any thoughts or ideas…….?

ParticipantI just made my reservation at the Honey Bear Campground in Boone – $30 a night! It doesn’t get any sweeter than that!
Here’s a good link for campgrounds in the area for those of you who enjoy nature and/or are poor like me: http://www.mountaintimes.com/summer/campgrounds.php3.
Better hurry, though. They’re going fast! Hope to see a bunch of you guys at Cafe Portofino before the show!
