    – White Wheeled Limo: I love the arrangement of this. In particular, JV’s bass solo as well as Sonny’s, really enhanced the song and brought a unique touch to it, which really separated it out from all the other versions of White Wheeled Limo I’ve heard. Limo is definitely one of my favorite songs from Bruce, and I think it’s safe to say this is my favorite version.

I have mixed feelings about White Wheeled Limo. The band is definitely on fire for this one and I’m glad the bass solo is actually audible in the remixed version (compared to the version on BHLive).

The highest energy part of the song (to me anyway) is the jam that starts around 6:05. Bruce lays down a simple lick and everyone picks up on it and builds it up into something fantastic. Vintage Noisemakers stuff! Unfortunately the “Bride” version of this might as well be a drum solo. Bobby Read’s sax is where most of the energy comes from and it’s almost removed entirely. It sounds like someone was asleep at the board when this was being remixed for the new album.

Take a listen to this short clip from the original (from BHLive) and compare it to what’s heard on the Bride version at 6:05.

Bride is so good, I can only nitpick, but this really jumped out at me when I was listening.

Which BH Live album is that from? I want to listen to both versions back-to-back in it’s entirety.

Hmm, I don’t seem to have that. I see what you’re saying, but I still think Sonny’s drumming in that part on Bride helps build the song up. Plus, I just like how it’s something different.
