ParticipantGreat news!
I’ve been hoping for this! Wonder if they’ll play the “Freak”? You know that’s a definite. Hope they give them time to add a second number also. I’m a big “Conesy” fan.
By the way, my clock-radio woke me up Sunday to a syndicated radio show that was playing “Super Freak.” I forget the name of the show — I think it was an all-acoustic hour or something — but they were doing an “All Covers” show. The DJ gave the record a plug and seemed amused by “Freak.”

ParticipantI doubt they will let him do two songs….They rarely do that on late night anymore….in fact the only time I ever saw that was when U2 took over Conan and they gave them the whole show, that was sweet….
I’m sure he will do superfreak, that’d be nuts, I still have yet to hear the album, im not really a bluegrass fan….

But will Ricky and Bruce appear on a night that also features Triumph the Insult Comic Dog or the Masturbating Bear? That is the question…

ParticipantQuote:But will Ricky and Bruce appear on a night that also features Triumph the Insult Comic Dog or the Masturbating Bear? That is the question…I could see the Masturbating Bear fitting in with “Super Freak.”
Hmm… should we have some sort of wagering contest on what song they’ll play on “Conan”?
Rich
PS. I wonder if they’ll let Chaka Khan in on the “Super Freak” fun when they play Jamestown…

The wagering contest should be in the bookies for the kudos!! Or we could do it for what song he will perform on the show! Si? Anyone?

ParticipantConan’s website says Bruce and Ricky won’t be on the show until Friday.
April 24, 2007 at 2:47 pm #28285PianoManKD
ParticipantYes friday. What happens with late night shows for some reason is they tape both Monday’s and Friday’s show on Monday. They probably decided to put the monday show on friday. Happens all the time.

ParticipantDRAT, y’all….
I stayed up [on a school night] and watched parts of some old January re-run…I hope Conan talks to our Brucie. About 2002, I remember BRH mentioning that he and Conan were almost ‘eye to eye’ in a BH year-end newsletter.
Good!!! Friday is a lot easier [than a school night]

ParticipantI attended the taping of the Conan show which includes a Bruce and Ricky performance of “The Dreaded Spoon”. It was a fun version and of course, I was hoping they might have time to sit down and talk a few minutes but it didn’t happen. They taped it this past Monday(april 23) because Conan will be going to San Francisco to do his show there next week. Their performance was at the end of the show. Conan did come over and thank them though. Make sure you watch or TiVo it!

What?!?!? You didn’t have an extra ticket for me???
Did they introduce or explain the song at all? A song about a dessert thief almost begs for an explanation. Too bad they didn’t have time to chat afterward. Most importantly, was there a sighting of Triumph the Insult Comic Dog?
I wish they’d get time on SNL…

ParticipantHey, Vic!
Here’s my ticket story:
When I learned about their appearance on Conan’s show, I called the number listed online for tickets to the show. They were taking requests for shows the week AFTER this one, so I was about a week too late. I did some research and learned about the stand-by ticket process and decided to give it a try. After arriving at the studio around 8:30 am Monday morning, I secured stand-by ticket #14 and went through the line again and got stand-by ticket #29 (just in case you showed up, Vic, or some other deserving Bruce fan. No, I’m not making this up!) You still don’t know if you get in until you return in the afternoon and they determine how many extra seats they have. From 3:45pm until 5:20pm, I was shuffled from one line to another as I inched closer to a seat in the Conan television audience. Finally, they say they need the first 20 for sure – Yippee, that includes me 😆 ! We are given an official red ticket and we wait in our final line before being ushered into the studio. We all received an official Late Night with Conan t-shirt complete with “audience member” on the sleeve. It was a worthwhile experience. Most people are there just to get on the show, not because they are fans of the scheduled guests. It may be a record for me for the longest wait to hear ONE song. Conan came out and talked to us before the show for a few moments and got us laughing, etc. There were many TV monitors above our heads to watch. I just wish more Bruuuce fans could have joined me. So be sure to look for me towards the middle of the second row from the top. After the show, Bruce was looking around and saw me waving and waved back to his dedicated “stand-by” fan. The people next to me were very impressed 😉 .
*I remember Conan holding up the CD and introducing them, but I can’t remember if he gave the name of the song.
* I regret to report there was no sighting of Triumph the Insult Comic Dog.April 28, 2007 at 7:23 pm #28292Victor

Carey, you went to New York and didn’t even have a ticket in hand?!? Your resourcefulness never ceases to amaze! Wish I could have been there to claim ticket #29 — did anybody use it?
I had planned to stay up and watch this, but … wouldn’t you know … I fell asleep! Boy, I AM getting old! 😳 Hopefully, it will be posted to YouTube or something…

ParticipantI watched the show and kind of thought they could have at least sat down and talked to both of them. I mean one less segment with Garry Shandling wouldn’t have ruined the show.. 😉

ParticipantI didn’t care for the performance.
I’m not a really a bluegrass guy though.

ParticipantGotta love Garry Shandling!
Larry Sanders is one of the funniest shows. Ever.
Maybe drop the OC kid, but not Shandling.

ParticipantOr how bout they should have dropped both and dedicated the whole show to Ricky and Bruce 😉
