GuestAny going to Chattanooga? I have one tic (my wife can’t go), Orcherstra Left Center, Row B, right in front of Bruce. Let me know if anyone has an interest in one tic or having a drink before the show.

GuestI live in Chattanooga ….. I hope the area represents — and fills up the Tivoli Theatre — so Bruce will make a return trip!
It should be a great venue for the band.

ParticipantI am flying all the way from England to see Bruce at the Tivoli Theater (it’s just a coincidence that one of my best friends lives in Chattanooga), so I hope to see lots of fellow fans there. Sadly I don’t have anything I can wear to distinguish me from the crowd, but if you see someone with a digital camera with a large lens on it, I’ll be the one pressing the shutter! 😆

GuestRocking good show.
Bruce loved the acoustics. The Tivoli is a grate venue, I’ve seen many wonderful shows there.
Highlights:
River Runs Low
the hits, natch, esp Mandolin Wind, which he dedicated to Vassar. He said he and the band recorded it with Vassar last year for an unreleased Vassar album.
Stander on the Mountain (I think) with Rocky Top tease.
He took requests the entire show.
Anybody tape it?
Does Bruce still allow taping?
I have other shows taped there with wonderful sound.August 19, 2005 at 8:19 pm #26263Anonymous
GuestWhat a show!
Chattanooga really turned out!
Though I’m a longtime fan, this was actually my first live show! I’d been waiting 20 years for Bruce to come to this neck of the woods. I won’t wait that long again! I sent Si a report he can add to his list if he likes. If anybody wants to see the report now, just let me know, and I’ll post it. I was unfamiliar with a couple things, but here’s my set list:
Set One:
A Night on the Town (solo), “Musings on a Ricky/Bruce selection” (Bruce/R.S. duet), Hooray for Tom (solo), Here Comes the Chill, Nobody There But Me, Tango King, Long Tall Cool One>When Dreaming’s Done(?)>Long Tall Cool One, Mandolin Rain>Sad Moon Tonight(?)>Mandolin Rain, (classical)>The Way It Is.
Set Two:
The River Runs Low, Rocky Top tease, The Road Not Taken, Big Stick, “Free Bird”, End of the Innocence, Gonna Be Some Changes Made, dodecaphonic “12 tone tune”, Dreamland, Valley Road, Rainbow’s Cadillac>Walk on the Wild Side>Rainbow’s Cadillac. Encore: Cruise Control.I thought the opening with R.S.; “Here Comes the Chill;” and “Nobody There But Me” were highlights, but when he complimented my request list and started the second half with “The River Runs Low,” I was blown away!
The encore was a dancing-in-the-isles “Cruise Control.” Bruce said the show would be available for download this fall.

GuestWhat a great show!
The Tivoli was an impressive place for a concert! Great accustics!
I ran across Bruce, JV, JT & Bobby in the lobby of the Reed House a couple hours before the show. Walked right past them and then realized……. Made a U turn back and Bruce was walking toward me. Shook his hand. He was real friendly!

ParticipantThe Tivoli is a beautiful theater and as David says the acoustics are wonderful. When Bruce opened playing solo the sound from the piano was so rich. I’ve never heard anything like that. I was surprised that he’s not played there before. I bet he returns pretty soon.
The whole show was a scream – did anyone else see J.V. grabbing Sonny’s cymbals during one of the songs towards the end? Those guys all have such a blast on stage, J.V. grins constantly, and he’s always joking with Bruce. Glad the accordion made a couple of appearances too, particularly for Big Stick. I was so pleased that they played Cruise Control for the encore – it was great to get up and dance.
Looking forward to that download already!

ParticipantHey Chattanooga!
You got two shows coming to Atlanta! June 10 solo show and August 9 Noise Makers show! Both at great venues! The Bruce Nation needs to support both shows!

ParticipantTN/GA shows
That’s right, David, and we’ve got the Beale Street festival in Memphis on May 6 and another Memphis-area show in Bartlett, Tenn., right after the Chastain Park show and the Biltmore in August.
This could be the Summer of Bruce for Tennesseans who want to make a quick road trip. Even though Memphis is a 6-hour drive for those of us in East Tennessee, I’ll be there.
Anybody else planning on being in Memphis in a couple of weeks?
EDIT — Wow! I just noticed the Knoxville date on Aug. 15. Bruce is really showing the Volunteer State some love this year! Now we need to turn out en masse.
