Well, a silly idea that came up while talking with a friend of mine has come to fruition.

Getting burned out on politics? Need something to help you make it through the 3 remaining debates in the US Presidential race? I have the solution — DEBATE BINGO!

I put together a page that will create Presidential Bingo cards, with words and phrases found onthe web sites of both the McCain and Obama campaigns, as well as from other political sites. Since they’re randomly generated from over 350 words and phrases, it should be pretty easy to print up enough cards for a whole gang of folks getting together for an enjoyable evening watching politicians yak at each other.

Here’s how ya do it… go to this url: http://members.cox.net/rdiakun/debatebingo.htm, print out the page, and hit refresh to generate another page. Repeat as necessary.

To play, just wait until you hear one of the words or phrases on your card said during the debate by either candidate, and mark it off. When you get a series of 5 marked off spaces, either up/down, across, or diagonally, yell “BINGO!” The center space is a freebie (pre-marked off). The first one to yell out “BINGO!” wins!

Have fun, and happy debate watching!

If my card had included the phrases “main street” and “Wall Street,” I believe my whole Bingo card would have been covered last Thursday night!

    Rich,

Did you include the word “maverick,” the phrase “you betcha,” or a for the VP debate? :)

“Maverick” was in there. I didnt get “you betcha” or a wink, though. And for last night’s debate, I realized very early on that I should have included “my friends”. I’ll be updating the lilst for the final debate next week.

I think I heard that McCain said “My friends…” 28 times in that 90-minute debate.

Definitely qualifies as a drinking game, not to mention Bingo! :D

Hi, I’m teaching an older friend of mine to use the internet.. so far she has a good grasp of e-mail and the simple stuff. I want to set her up with a list of favorites so she can surf when I’m not around. She doesn’t really cook or knit or anything like that, she doesn’t have many interests other than bingo and word games so I added some of those, as well as our local weather and some other boring stuff. What would an older lady be interested in online?

I don’t know the level of difficulty, but I do know several people who are interested in the various genealogy sites online.
