BH is dissing Keene and Rutland…to hang out with the chiggers, ticks, mosquitoes, and alligators in, of all places, Live Oak, FL. As a native Fluriduhn, I isn’t imprezzd.

Gregg Allman will be there, and Buddy Guy. Furthur too. Oh yeah, Govt. Mule.

Sounds like fun. Not. “3 Nights of Primitive camping.” Heh. In Florida, in late April? Have a good time with that. BH musta read me badmouthing him about that V.I.P. shit. 😆 Oh wait —

Good thing they’ve got the Verily Impudent Poseur thang goin’ on there, too! 🙄

Oh well. Hope I can make your rescheduled date(s), BH.

Warren Haynes and John ‘Fake Jerry’ Kadlecik…no thanks.

I guess I’ll have to wait patiently til Bruce comes to my neck of the hoods.

Stand yer ground T. I’m there wicha mang.

Earlier this year when I got to go on Bruce’s tour bus I asked him about what he thought of some ‘cover band’ guy singing in a fake Jerry voice in a band with Phil and Bobby and to say the least we had good laugh about it. I won’t say what he said or thought about it but it was funny. I am surprised he would play that fest with that crappy band there.

I’m PISSED…at the Goon! 😆 He shoulda told everyone that you only go to FL for Spring Training!

Quite a few peeps know that you go “primitive camping” in FL in one or all of the following 4 months: November, December, January, February. That’s it. April in the panhandle will be nasty, I tells ya. Again, knock yerselves out.

One can only assume that BH is doin’ it for the cashola. Or he’d rather be jamming with his buds down by the Suwanee river, fake Jerry and Cheesy Warren aside. Or both. Otherwise it makes no sense, or he had made an arrangement earlier to be at said Wanee. I don’t know the legal side of breaking and rescheduling booked and tix-sold events in order to play at an entirely different event — I would’ve thought that the whole “previous commitment” issue would be pertinent, now I guess not — unless the commitment made to the “primitive camping” peeps preceded dates made for BH’s solo jaunt. Pointless from the unknowing fan p.o.v.; as far as I knew, I’d bought tix to a solo show publicized what, almost 6 mos. in advance? Along comes the (un)seductive Suwanee wookiepalooza a couple of months later and BH goes galloping off? Nice to be sloppy seconds.

Right now, I’m feeling spurned 😳 👿 and apt to not attend if the show is rescheduled. The Colonial is very small, as theaters go, and chances are good that with a couple of drinks in me I might holler some rude shite. I’m sure I’ll chill out in a few days, but still…the V.I.P. crap and now this?

    T, panties in a wad 😡

    See previous post, but…

The ‘cover band’ guy concept is interesting — I saw (don’t ask) some “improv ice skating” over the weekend on NBC where the featured band (who knew?) was Styx…or whatever remained of them, which amounted to Tommy Shaw and James Young, with the unfortunately AIDS-stricken original bassist John Panozzo playing bass for half the set. (Okay, how do I know so much about Styx? Embarrassed admission — 1st concert, 1983, Lakeland Civic Center, “Kilroy Was Here” tour. Yuk it up…) Anyhoo, they had some Paul Mitchell-type from the Babys on bass (when Panozzo wasn’t playing) and guitar, and some Berklee-ed drummer. They also had some horrorshow (seriously, he looked like Gary Oldman smacked in the face with the ugly stick and topped off with the worst jet-black wig imaginable) on keys and vox, replacing Dennis DeYoung, who apparently still has his pride. (He also seemed to be winking at the female skaters, even Nancy Kerrigan.) I wondered, right then, and thought about the “cover band as done by pros,” i.e. Journey with that copycat from the Philippines, “Zappa Plays Zappa” featuring Dweezil literally and completely aping his dad (minus the sense of spontaneity and humor), and yes, any number of the Dead “offshoots.” Can you imagine being a musician, getting the job of “fill-in” and then trying to justify being a carbon-copy of some dead or retired-and-too-self-assured-to-wanna-be-a-museum-piece sonuvabitch?
How would you live with your self? Ick. And sad. Don’t quit yer dayjob…unless the money’s good, I suppose. But even then, you’re a facsimile, a wannabe clone, the not-as-much-loved second (or third) wife, constantly trying to tell yourself you matter, when the one that you are replacing is the one who really mattered, in an artistic sense.

Unless you’re Sammy Hagar 😆 Or Bruce Hornsby becoming the latest in the series of Spinal Tap-esque ivory ticklers for the Dead. But Jerry was still around then…

Rescheduling aside, don’t boycott any new date on point of principle – that’ll just end with someone else in your seat. No point cutting your nose off to spite your face – unsure of the reasoning behind the new plans, although I’d be confident enough to surmise that it’s not Bruce’s decision.=

At least know that your area is on the radar… check Bruce’s FB page to see how often any concert announcement is immediately followed by “When are you coming to…?”

    Si —

I appreciate your earnestness. Some points to consider…

I know that my current area of residence (New England) is on the radar. BH plays here quite frequently, but the solo dates not so. Also, what some doofus writes on BH’s Facebook pages is quite irrelevant (have you ticked off how many times said FB members have pleaded with him to play “Mandolin”? Hilarious), as one can only assume his peeps have some kinda algorithm that breaks down the U.S. region by region in accordance with dough made. You gotta figure that the NE/E U.S. from Asheville, NC to Portland, ME is prime territory, much like the West Coast, from San Diego to Seattle.

So, yeah, in the NE we get to see BH a lot. Solo dates not so. When you buy tix to a confirmed date as soon as they’re available only to discover two months later from a third-rate Phish-phollower website that your date has been “rescheduled” (when? dunno) so that Bruce can sweat it out with a Dead cover group, Gregg Allman, Buddy Guy, and etc in a cow pasture/swamp in northern Florida one can only assume that there is more money to be made in said cow pasture.

As to the “not biting my nose off to spite my face,” well, welcome to my world, dude. As I said, I’m sure that I’ll get over it. There are more pressing concerns in our personal lives, the U.S., the U.K., and the world, other shit to worry our pretty lil’ heads about. I’m just a bit peeved that BH does the V.I.P. thang (hey, for his corporate gigs, whatevs…) and THEN “reschedules” gigs that I can make, in an area CHOCK FULL of the northern variety of ol’ skool Deadheads and home turf for Phish phools (no offense, Goon…XOXO). Not to mention overflowing with the supposed type of music fan that BH covets, i.e. the discerning music fan willing to follow BH on any type of musical backroad he wants to go on, and not just because they’re “tripping balls, dude.” (In other words, your typical “East Coast Elitist”! Heh heh 😆 ) If I can make the rescheduled date, I’m sure that I will be there. If not, then maybe next time…unless Bruce gets a better offer? 😆 :P

Engaging in complaining for the sake of complaining, and I can’t imagine that, if anyone else were in my boat, you wouldn’t be doing the same. Although…who knows? P’raps I’m the fly in the buttermilk. 😈 🙄

Yeah T…I too would annoyed if Bruce was scheduled to play in my town and I eagerly bought tix all giddy like a school girl knowing that I was going to see that all mighty Spider Fingers only to later be informed that he chose to ditch my town to play at some festy before a mostly pretentious crowd loving the chicken wings eating champion Warren Haynes pissing in their ears with his horrible guitar noise and then having a Fake Jerry singing/straining his voice to sound like Jerry so all the kids in the crowd that didn’t get to see Jerry Garcia can close their eyes and pretend that John Kadlecik is really Jerry singing to them and then have Phil Lesh moan/grumble/gargle what he calls singing and they all think its so EPIC…but yeah that sucks that you had a chance to see our boy Bruce and it got canceled for a swamp fest in the land of old codgers. Atleast he was gonna go to yer town…my dive ass town ain’t even on his radar. Actually I’ll be leaving here shortly to head down to Fladah to stalk my Rays.
T Hopefully your show does get rescheduled and that you get to see some SOLO Bruce.
