So, after letting the Black Mountain show soak in for a few days, I began to think of Bruce’s growing use of the “folk” sound along with the dulcimer and thought how cool it would be to see him pair up with Emmylou Harris on a song or even an album. Not to show any sacrilege towards the dynamic pairings of the past (Raitt/Colvin, etc.) but to my ears, there is not a better female vocalist than Emmylou. I’m wondering what everyone thinks about this and/or if anyone knows if this has already happened and I somehow missed it, please let me know!

I would like to hear them together, too. Although the songs might have to be in lower keys…

If I remember correctly,Bruce mentioned Emmylou in a long-ago interview (or maybe it was during “The Sensitive Ones” show in Raleigh,NC…)

He said he originally wrote “Lost Soul” with the idea of Emmylou singing the female part.

When he contacted her about singing the part, she said something like,”I can’t sing that high anymore!” That’s when he asked Shawn Colvin to sing the part and the rest is history. :)

Does anyone else remember this story?
