ParticipantOK Takavl…
It was a real treat to get to see three shows in the span of four days. It’s rare that the opportunity would exists when the circumstances would allow me to run away from home for a few days. However, I didn’t have the luxury of going from show to show without a run back out to Long Island to touch base with the kids. So, in a way….a lot of the details are a blur.
These two shows, like Red Bank were beyond what I can describe. Clearly, Bruce and the band are having a great time playing together. All the older songs were full of surprises and blazing hot solos. After each show, I always think “how can it get any better?”…and then, it does!
When Bruce plays solo, it is absolutely mesmerizing. Personally, I love when he wanders into the dissonant space and I’m always blown away at where it goes from there.
My friend Kate covered the set list for me in Englewood, so once again she gets the credit for this list.

Soon Enough (solo)

Cruise ControlIn Peekskills, Bruce seemed to be in a particularly playful mood. There were several times when he segued into dissonance (with or without the band) or played in a minor key grinning ear to ear as he did. At one point, the dissonant improv built to the point where Bruce was literally pounding on the piano…incredible noise from the Noisemakers! He told stories and showed off a couple of requests he particularly appreciated. When he went center stage to pick up the accordian, a little boy in the front row caught his attention. He apparently wanted to see the instrument up close. So, Bruce invited him up on the stage and talked with him while he let him press the keys. There’s a photo in the batch from Peekskill, it was a terrific moment.

ParticipantKat! Thanks for the timely coverage
but I really am upset with myself now for not making the Peekskill show 😥 Even though it seems close, Peeks is about 3 hours away from the Brattleboro area, and I am notoriously lazy. 😆 Moving from Tampa with shows galore (within 5 to 30 mins) to another with at least 45 mins. to 2 hours driving time (Nhampton, Boston, for ex.) has only exacerbated my bump-on-a-logitude…dammitt! My loss, right?!
But I see that BH and the NMs will be at the Egg in Albany 10/1, which fortunately for moi, is only about 70 mins. from me house…
Glad that you had a great time, and thanks again for fab review.
