There is a place across from the Guilford College campus called Elizabeth’s Pizza that would be great for a meetup. It is almost directly across from Dana Auditorium in a group of shops called the Quaker Village Shopping Center.
The address is: 5607-A West Friendly Avenue, Greensboro, NC, 27410
    Phone: 336.299.1772

Just got back from doing some “advance scouting” of the Guilford College area. Here is my report:

    1. Meet-up: It seems the group of shops where Elizabeth’s Pizza is located is called Colonial Shoppes/Quaker Village. The signage one can see from the street while driving has “Colonial Shoppes” more prominently displayed. Elizabeth’s is located next to a store called BB’s Compact Discs.

    2. Walking to Guilford College: The college entrance across from Elizabeth’s is a side entrance-not the main entrance. It’s a fairly small campus;finding our way from the entrance to Dana Auditorium should be easy.

Hope this is helpful & not posted too late for the Road Scholars! See you all in Greensboro!

I didn’t keep track of this show’s setlist–if anyone else did, I’d be grateful to see it–but what a time!

My first solo show–hope the visitors to the Triad enjoyed my hometown. :D

I’m hoping that Jackie would give us a report. She was not at Boone and therefore cannot compare the two shows plus she was able to meet Bruce after the show! 8)

Come on Jackie! Give your report! :D

You askd for it! My show report is now on the setlist page.

Now for the more personal observations:

    The Meetup
Great fun! If you ever get a chance to go to a pre-concert meetup do it! Drive, take the bus, rollerblade or ride a bicycle, just make it a point to get there. It’s a fantastic oppotunity to get to know other BIBs and SIBs (Brothers & Sisters In Bruce) as Lola calls us. People who don’t roll their eyes or give you a blank stare when you start talking about Bruce’s music. I’m usually extremely quiet around people I’ve just met,but I think I was more easily drawn out because I knew I was among friends. I know others who take the opportunity to get together before a show will also have a similaly positive experience.

    The Show
A different side of Bruce. He talked between songs more than I’ve seen him do before (but then, this was my first solo show). It seemed like more than just “stage banter;” he was so relaxed, even a disruptive audience member didn’t ruin the night.

    Meeting Bruce
Thanks to some extremely generous people,I was given the opportunity to meet Bruce after the show. He was as as open and unpretntious as everyone has described. He was talking to several people about various subjects. He encouraged one young fan (a young boy) to keep practicing the piano. Someone gave him a book about “The Andy Griffith Show” (Andy of Mayberry) and Bruce said he loved the character Ernest T. Bass. Most interesting of all, the song Gonna Be some Changes Made was mentioned. He said he really liked the version of that song on Caesar Salad! We were introduced, I thanked him
for playing my request (Sticks and Stones) and then I had my picture taken with Bruce. (Many thanks to the photographer)
I’ve told many people that meeting Bruce turned an extrordinary evening into an unforgettable one.

    Jackie
