Sounds like a great set, leaning heavily on the up-tempo numbers. Would love to have a copy of this one!

most of my masters were sent off to some folks to get them transferred.one day they will make it out!

this was a fun show.I really wish had the soundcheck on tape, poor JT got a thrashing from Bruce,it was rough.

I’ve never heard this story. Can you give more details?

I forget what song they were playing but Bruce stopped and told JT something along the lines of “how many times do I have to tell you how that **&&^ part goes,I am getting &^%$ *&^% *&^% *&^^%%^ tired of telling you this every *&^&% **&&^% *&*&% time.it goes like this *&^% get it right or else”

I cant remember all the exact words, but JT sure got a cussing and I really thought he was gonna quit right then and there.I know if it was me I would have.they played it again and I guess JT played it like Bruce wanted because it went smoothly the rest of the soundcheck.you could tell that tensions were a little high though.
come show time everyone seemed ok again and they seemed to be having a really fun time.

I have never witnessed such a thing in a group of professional musicians before or since then, and really hope I never do.it was very bizarre.

it was like a garage band of teenagers and the guy who’s garage it is says we play the songs I like or you cant play here.

Wow, I find that hard to believe. Seems out of character for Bruce, especially since JT has been with Bruce the longest of any Noisemaker. Maybe it was one of those days for them. Who knows? 😯

that was my thoughts too.I have had the great pleasure of meeting and talking to Bruce a few times and he was about the nicest guy you could ever want to meet, even to a complete stranger.I was stunned when that whole thing went down,I guess it was just a weird day….and the show is not in the bruuuce db
which makes it even weirder 😆 😆

Well, guys, another way to look at it is that BH IS the boss, so to speak.

I think that he even jokes about this in one of those pre-release vids for “Levitate.” “Benevolent dictator” or whatever…obviously, JT didn’t leave. Also, sometimes a dressing down, as it were, might sound much worse than it is. Peeps are probably just used to BH screaming at ’em! 😆

BTW, indydarkstar, something is very much lost in the translation with all of those ^^&&*** and shit. Next time, give us the real dope cussin’! :P

Ya also might want to realize that JT was used to dealing with Beefheart, and that might’ve been some serious stress-inducing rehearsal time. :D

I’m late to this party, but this was a great show in person that got my wife hooked on Bruce (it was her first – and so far only – exposure to live Bruce).

Anyone got a copy they’d be willing to spin for me?
