ParticipantAnyone know of a place to get together before the Knoxville Show walking distance from TN Theater? I understand that this is a great venue! Got to be some “watering hole” nearby!
Vic you up for it?

Yeah, the Tennessee Theatre should have a sound as good or better than the Tivoli in Chattanooga. I believe the Tennessee has a big pipe organ there… I wonder if Bruce or JT will be able to get ahold of that!?!
I can ask around about a good place for folks to meet beforehand — unless somebody already has a place in mind.

ParticipantSo Victor – are you really 76? You sound pretty hip for an old guy! ;o) 😉

ParticipantMy age
Yes, Allisa, I’m 76 — but I don’t look a day over 72. I’m pretty fly for an old guy.
If a cute little filly such as yourself would like to meet-up before the Knoxville show, I’m staying at the Knox County Retirement Center, where they mix a mean wheat-grass and seaweed cocktail.
It’s a great chaser for my split-pea soup and makes me kind of “frisky.”

KeymasterI will definitely try to make this, if anyone comes up with a definite place nearby.

Oh, Vic – you crack me up! My dad just turned 71 and he’s pretty darn fly, too.
I’d love to make it to some east coast shows, but unfortunately they’re a little too far from my northwest home (and way too far for my wallet to stretch right now, too). I’ll just have to make do with getting my fix in Seattle in 10 days! Woohoo!!!

ParticipantI’ve found a great watering hole to meet before the show! It’s Downtown Grill & Brewery and is only 1 block from the Tennessee Theater!

ParticipantIf you need a place to stay, check out the Hotel St. Oliver. It’s only 2 blocks from the Tennessee Theater and is very inexpensive. The Tennessee Theater recommended me to it. Their telephone number is 865-521-0050.
Hey Vic! You want to meet at the Downtown Grill & Brewery or the old folks home?

ParticipantHey David, buy him a round of Metamucil from me, will ya? ;o)

ParticipantI need fiber…
You’re both sweet kids. When I was knee-high to a mandolin, the Downtown Grill was the W.W. Woodruff Hardware Store. I used to listen to their jingles during the Cas Walker radio hour on the radio I bought at Miller Bros. Furniture Co. across the street.
That looks like a fine place to raise a glass, David, and I’d be happy to share a round with you and Mr. Twining himself.
I’m just sorry little Allisa won’t be able to attend. Maybe one day she’ll set sail from the faraway land of Coeur d’Alene and join us here in the good ol’ U. S. of A.

ParticipantOK Knoxville it’s time to crank up the crowd! You guys have been fairly quiet. If this DAWG fan can drive all the way up to little ole Knoxville, then you guys can get a little fired up too. What’s wrong? Have you all overdosed on orange? Still hungover from the GA game last year? Come on guys! Get fired up! Let’s hear from you! I’m a telling ya! The TN Theater is going to be great!

ParticipantThanks David for the info on Hotel St. Oliver. I just booked a room, and wanted to let everyone know that rooms are still available the night of the show. As David said, they are inexpensive and within walking distance of the show.

ParticipantHey Amanda!
Come join us before the show! We would love to meet you at the Downtown Grill & Brewery.
I’ll be the tall, dark and handsome one. Vic, well he is not as good looking as me, but is a great journalist and conversationalist. Si, you should know what he looks like from the web site.
Please join us! We would love to meet a fellow traveler!
Hey Allissa! Come on down! This would be a great place for you and Vic to meet!

ParticipantThanks for the invite David! Meeting fellow Hornsby fans while getting a buzz on sounds like a great time to me, so I’ll definitely be there. I just hope they have Newcastle on tap…

ParticipantHey Marc!
If I can make this one, you can too! If this dawg fan can drive 3 1/2 hours into Vol territory and stay amongst and between the enemy, you can too! Besides, it’s my round!

Amanda,
I’ll be the short, pasty-faced humpback sitting with David and Si.
David,
I think I must have offended Allisa when I referred to her homeplace as the hinterlands!

ParticipantHey Vic!
I don’t think you offended her. She has too much pent up excitement to meet you! She’s just being shy!
You coming to Chastain aren’t you?
Don’t forget to shoot me an e-mail so I can get you my cell number.
I’m a telling ya!

Actually, I was in shock that you actually spelled my hometown right! Even some of us born & raised here don’t get it right all the time. And yes, we are kind of in the boonies, but God does appreciate His privacy, you know. 😆
(north Idaho is God’s country, after all…)The true test, however, is if you can pronounce it correctly, too!
I promise to start saving my pennies so I can make an east coast show one of these years. But a short, half-hour drive to Spokane in October for a solo show would be absolute heaven!!!

For shame Si, for shame. Oh well, the whole Newcastle vile thing aside, you obviously have good taste since you’re into live Hornsby.

Thanks for the warning. I bet you get a lot of stares when you hang with Mr. tall, dark and handsome. I will try to remember my manners and not stare at you until your (hump)back is turned.

ParticipantHey Amanda!
Poor Vic! He can’t help it. On the other hand, Mr. Tall, Dark and Handsome can’t help it either. It’s not my fault!
Look forward to meeting you! It will be nice to meet a fellow traveler. Between Vic, Si & me, I’m sure it will be a memorable experience!

Lake Lanier, GAPS I hope we don’t run you off before the show with all our scuttlebutt. I promise everyone will be perfect gentlemen. You’ll have fun!

ParticipantHey David!
I was just teasing…I’m looking forward to meeting people I can talk Hornsby with. The guy that got me into live Hornsby years ago (gave me my first shows on cassette) has since move to Ohio, and I’ve yet to meet anyone who truly appreciates live Hornsby here. Anywho, I don’t think I can wait, I’m in dire need of a Hornsby fix! My seat will be in Orchestra Pit Right, and I’m hoping it’s a good spot and not too far below stage. Well, see you guys then!

ParticipantHey Amanda!
You are a true fan! Are you driving all the way from Springfied, MO, to Knoxville? Are you going to make the show at Bartlett?
I’ve been following Bruce since the late 80s. I saw him the first time he came to Atlanta. It was a very small venue. I think is was 1988. Since then, I’ve seen him every time he’s come to Atlanta. Whenever he came to Atlanta, it just was not enough. Since the early 90s, I’ve been traveling to see him also. Starting this Wednesday, I will see Bruuuce three times in one week.
You’ll be with some true fans! Vic travels alot, but Si probably travels the most. I wish Marc from Cincy would come down!
The TN Theater will be a great venue!
