I just ordered my tix for this. Looking forward to seeing Bruce and the Noisemakers again!.

It’s tempting, I gotta say…but from SE VT, it’s almost 3 hours…and we’d have to get a sitter, and stay overnight at, what, either the Grand or Fwoods? Hmmmm…
We’ll see. Boston area or Albany area is usually about as far as my cranky arse likes to drive. Can I get a Northampton? Pretty please?
Also…which guest drummer will be rocking the skins? From what I can determine, the Divine Miss M is still doing her “Showgirl Must Go On” extravaganza in Vegas, which means that Son Yemry will most likely be with her — correct?

I e-mailed JV a couple of days ago about the drummer question and he wrote back informing me that Moyes will be pounding the skins at Foxwoods. Apparently Sonny is doing drum clinics in Indonesia 😯 ! People from all around the world want Son Yemry to teach ’em how to play drums! 😆
I’m sure that Moyes will be a fine sub.; Googling him reveals stints with Larry Carlton, Solomon Burke, Steve Perry , and Keiko Matsui 😯 😆 ! He played with the NMs at Tampa…A.J. — I’ll send ya a pm as soon as I get my act together….

Do you have a group meeting for pre-show dinner at Juniors? Let me know if there are any details and we’ll try to get out of work a bit early to head on up there if we can..

As a Foxwoods newbie, I gotta say…what else is there? (Besides Junior’s, that is…) The better half’s been there for a food/broker/distrib. show, but now I forget where she ate. Does it have to be Jr?

Does it have to be Jr’s, course not. We just picked it cus we’ve been to Juniors in NYC and when eating out in an unfamilar place, it’s sometimes best to “go with what you know”
Plus prices are fairly reasonable, food fairly diverse, only other choices are 2 steakhouses and upscale places. There’s a “food market” but it sounds like a mall food court
and yes junior’s has a bar

You forgot “Spider Fingers>Tempus Fugit>The Good Life” and “Sun.Cat>Train To Cry>Cat.” Also, “Valley Road” was “regular” but with the “way out” unison chromatic melody line in the middle. That’s ok…I forgot that he did that little bit before “Big Rock Candy Mtn./Run.”
Yeah, it was apparent that BH was gently needling the management, both with the “Dance Party Revolution At The Grand” (as I call it 😆 ) that he verbally fomented from the stage at the beginning of “Cat.” He remarked on the anti-dancing ushers, as well as the lack of playing time (and how he would “push it”) numerous times. But he also said that he liked the place, and wanted to return, so he did another playful desecration (for the rut-stuck) of “Way It Is.”
Good place to see a show, sound was great, two vid screens on the right and left, the place looked almost full from where I was. Just a shame that the Grand are more interested in people losing money on the floor than they are seeing a smoking rock show. Hmmmm…maybe if the Grand knew that more people who like music and the perf. arts would be happier (and spend money later) maybe they’d relent on that show time limit idiocy.
Oh, and I take back any crap I gave people about Junior’s — I loved it! So let me be rightly chastened… 😆

Thanks! I did forget “Spider Fingers>Tempus Fugit>The Good Life” – but just put Good Life as a separte song. He was trying to conserve time and give us a full show within the limitations. And “Sun.Cat>Train To Cry>Cat” I knew there was a transition, but I didn’t write it down. Thanks.

TSounds like a great show despite the time “limitations”!
That is another great attribute I’ve always liked about Bruce. He seems to always “press the envelope” and “stretch” the venue he’s playing. He may have picked that up from his days with “Bobby Hornsby and the High Octance Kids”! A true “rebel” at heart, but what can they say…..It’s Bruce Hornsby!

I thought that was you all along. The infamous “Liz” who was the “bus driver” for daverich. I’ve seen you at several shows. In fact, I don’t know if you remember, but you came down and sat by me at the Greensboro solo show. You told me about all your travels with Bruce…..Something you need to share with us more often! Thanks for the setlist – much appreciated, and I’ll put it up on the setlist pages soon.
The new song is “Levitate”, from the Spike Lee documentary on Kobe Bryant.
Not sure if anyone has posted this yet, so, according to several internet sources:
Spike Lee’s new documentary — “Kobe Doin’ Work” — on Los Angeles Laker Kobe Bryant, last year’s NBA Most Valuable Player, will be the gala premiere of the Tribeca/ESPN Sports Film Festival on April 25.
“Kobe Doin’ Work” will then be televised Saturday, May 16, at 7:30 PM on ESPN.
The documentary has the distinction of featuring the first film score by Bruce Hornsby, who also wrote and performed the original song “Levitate.”Vic

Sorry. I remember you now from Greensboro, but I didn’t connect you to the hat. Also have spent little time chatting. I’ve been so busy trying to “catch up” with Bruce’s music and understanding it that there didn’t seem time. Since August, 2006 I’ve been to 45 shows, so I’m getting a bit more comfortable and look forward to more chats and conversations.
Also, I spent nearly all of 2008 traveling, so had little chat time for any of my interests. See you in July?!

Lake Lanier, GASorry its been a while since I’ve been able to get on here and post, but I wanted to share the link to the photos I took at the MGM Grand Theatre in Foxwoods (Ledyard CT) on March 27th. The show was completely amazing, and while it was challenging to try and get non-blurry shots from waaaaaay back in the 20th row, the music was mesmerizing from every seat in the house. Hopefully I was able to capture some of the joyful, uplifting, and humble spirit that comes across in the music… I recall hearing him mention that he was going to be back in July, so does anyone know if this is true? I would love to try again from a closer seat next time!
