It’s hard to tell at first if it’s JT but then he does his “turn smile/grimace face sideways while grooving.” Yeah, that’s him. 😆
Mallard was, oh I dunno, somewhat of a respite from Van Vliet and his manias?
The singer is like Don crossed with Joe Cocker, and the material, while out of the ordinary to say the least, sho’ ain’t Beefheart-style strange; it manages to mix the out there with the r&b-ish pop IMHO.Enjoy, or not —

Rockpalast have some pretty outlandish, and always worthwhile, DVD releases. It’s a German music show that pretty much let people get away with anything. Bruce has some interesting stories from his own appearance on there, back in the Range days. The opening act (he wouldn’t name them) just put the crowd to sleep, so they set about tearing the house down with the ensuing set.
