This contest was fun!!! and I spent hours looking these things up and more hours typing up these referencesComputers crashed, servers blanked…Hell, I left work hours early and sent the darn list to SI from the local library. I’m not sure how many copies of the list he got but I’m sure I was more than a bit annoying. I wanted those tickets!!! A lass named Lisa Lloyd, I believe, won the tickets and the bragging rights. Lisa had LOTS of cites, as I did. I haven’t done that kind of research since grad school!!!

I’ll post them up in the next few days. Dose Day didn’t finish for me on 9th – I had contests to close and prizes to mail out.

The job here is actually to merge a few sets of answers, since different people had different ideas.

    I’m onto it!

I had fun with it, too. I had to take my husband to the airport that afternoon, so I grabbed all my BH CDs and while my husband was driving, I pored through the liners to look up the last few I couldn’t get. Good thing I found them all before we got there or I would have been quite the menace on the freeway driving back! Too bad I didn’t get my answers in sooner… :?

Si was right. This contest was harder than it sounded! It was fun trying to find all the references.

I psyched myself out while looking for answers though. If the question stated: “name three songs…” I thought there were only three correct answers. I’ve got to loosen up! :)

I also pretty much did the minimum requested. But I had fun finding these. Those eight “Dreams” were surprisingly difficult for me, so I included a couple of obscure references to what could be considered “dreams.” :)

I didn’t include the specific lyrics from each song, but trust me, they ARE there — except for maybe the last two; I kind of guessed on 9 & 10 (and probably 5, too) …

    1. Eight “DREAMS”
    – Til the Dreamings Done
    – Shadow Hands
    – Across the River
    – Fields of Gray
    – Dreamland
    – Nobody There But Me
    – Halcyon Days
    – Mirror on the Wall
    – Lost Soul “Somewhere between two worlds”
    – Another Day “As I closed my eyes I saw in my mind”

    2. Seven “ROADs”
    – The Valley Road
    – The Road Not Taken
    – Down the Road Tonight
    – I Will Walk with You
    – The Old Playground
    – A Night on the Town
    – Lost Soul

    3. Four “BOATs”
    – Gulf of Mexico Fishing Boat Blues
    – Mandolin Rain
    – Look Out Any Window
    – Lost Soul

    4. Three “CANDYs”
    – Candy Mountain Run
    – Cartoons and Candy
    – King of the Hill

    5. Three “CLOWNs”
    – Pete & Manny
    – Circus on the Moon
    – Gonna Be Some Changes Made

    6. Two “KINGs OF THE HILL”
    – King of the Hill
    – Stander on the Mountain

    7. Two “SUNs”
    – Walk in the Sun
    – Place Under the Sun
    – Carry the Water
    – Nobody There But Me

    8. Two “ACROSS THE RIVERs”
    – Across the River
    – Lost Soul

    9. Two “ELEPHANTs”
    – Circus on the Moon
    – Candy Mountain Run

    10. One “UNDERWEAR”
    – Sticks & Stones

Across the River “And remembers how she dreamed of rowing away” + “I dreamed she came, when I was down”
Harbor Lights “To the dream of your fancy”
Fields of Gray “There’ll be sad scenes and bad dreams”
Halcyon Days “maybe just a dream, time slowin’ down dream”

    2. Seven songs that include a road.
    Valley Road
    Road Not Taken
Lost Soul “there’s a lost soul comin’ down the road
The Changes “Got a place for you, got some roadwork”
    Down the Road Tonight
Preacher in the Ring II “Maybe I’m going down a wrong road”
Night on the Town “Once they get out on the road”

    3. Four songs that refers to a boat(s).

Gonna Be Some Changes Made “look in the mirror I see a clown’s face”
Place Under the Sun “I’m stumbling around with a frown like a bumbling clown”
Pete & Manny “We thought he looked like a clown in tights”

    6. Two songs that feature the phrase “King of the Hill”
    King of the Hill
Stander on the Mountain “The king of the hill runs away”

    7. Two songs that make reference to the sun.
    Walk in the Sun
    Place under the Sun

    8. Two songs that include the phrase “Across the River”
    Across the River
Lost in the Snow “Across the river and through the woods”

    9. Two songs that mention elephants.
Circus on the Moon “I’m here with the elephants, I’m cleaning up their mess”
Big Swing Face – can’t remember offhand and I don’t have the CD liner with me to look it up!

    10. And one song that features underwear!
Wild Frontier “Electric sun, electric hair, Leather skin , leather underwear”
    (Heir Gordon has “undergarments”)

Here’s a stumper, though: which song mentions a kazoo?
