ParticipantHey, guys. I’ve been cleaning again, and this time I ran across a cassette tape of a concert that I taped off the radio back in 1991. The fidelity stinks, but the music was a great nostalgic rush. Bruce mentions that they are taping from Concord, but I don’t know what state. I started taping a little late in the show, but here’s what I got:
–Introduces Stranded on Easy Street by saying that when his brother moved out to Palo Alto, he got caught up with all these daughters of “got rocks”. Bruce suggested to him that he should marry one of them and he could have “taken his seat in the royal suite”….
—Night on the Town – substituted these lyrics …”Well there’s a green table down at the Midway Diner, Where they rack up the balls for games, and the women generally don’t come finer…”
Here’s how he introduced Fire on the Cross; “I grew up in rural southeast Virginia. I used to walk to school – I was in grade school. About every couple of months I would pass by this certain telephone pole. There’d be a sign stapled to the pole. It said ‘White people’s meeting tonight. White people only’, signed the local Kleegle(?) of the local Klaven(?) of the Klu Klux Klan. I didn’t really understand what this was about when I was nine, but I knew there was something pretty dark, pretty ominous about it. You see, I grew up in a town where the prevailing mindset was that Martin Luther King was a bad man. My brother and I wrote a song about this mindset.” This song ended with a beautiful trio of Bruce, Molo, and Marinelli.
—Barren Ground
—Across the River
—Another Day – killer harmonica solo
—Look Out Any Window – great J.T. solo, also solo by Laura Creamer
–Introduced Defenders of the Flag by saying, “We’re gonna do a little blues jam for you – its about your fiend and mine, Jimmy Swaggert”.I know this isn’t a regular set list posting, but I just wanted to share.

ParticipantI think this is show from Concord Pavillion (Concord, CA) from 1991. It might have been aired in 1991 and the show took place in December 1990 when Bruce was touring in California. Not sure but I’m pretty sure this is the show. I’d have to listen to it again to verify.

ParticipantThanks for the additional info. If you do have that concert, what were the first few songs??? Like I said, I came into it late.
You know, I’m almost afraid to keep cleaning out these closets…..I’m not sure who/what I’ll find??!!
