ParticipantI’m probably the last one to know about this recording, but I just discovered the availability of _Piston Works_.
http://mp3.rhapsody.com/bruce-hornsby/piston-works
My question, though, before I make a purchase: Is this an unauthorized recording and/or one the sale of which does not benefit Bruce?December 19, 2011 at 11:34 am #33086Si Twining
KeymasterThis was given away for free on the official site, so I’m not sure whether this would be authorised or not.

ParticipantSi,
Thank you.
I’m very far removed from being a saint, but I do everything I can to avoid denying musicians payment for their art–so I guess I’ll pass on this purchase.
Thanks again.January 4, 2012 at 5:12 pm #33088GuinnessGoon
ParticipantI never seen that before. Looks and sounds pretty cool.
“An impromptu concert recorded in Detroit Pistons head coach Rick Carlisle’s living room. Alone at the piano, Hornsby gets to be the coach while he plays songs of his own and snippets by jazz greats such as McCoy Tyner and Chick Corea. Candid conversation between songs makes you feel like you’re attending a private party”
I too am on the fence on the purchase but if it was already given away free then no money was to be made so I don’t know if Bruce would be denied anything that he already made available for free. I guess I’ll keep looking around for it else where before I support rhapsody.January 4, 2012 at 7:40 pm #33089Si Twining
KeymasterI’ll see if I have a copy I can put up. I checked with Bruce’s team, who asked that I pass this on:
Quote:This is not authorized to be sold on Rhapsody. Bruce had given it away on the website a few years back, as you are aware but had never authorized the sale of this. I am going to have to inform Rhapsody so that they can pull this down as well. Thanks for pointing this out, as I was unaware of their attempts to sell this.

ParticipantWould be nice to have a copy of this, I think this was released around the time I moved from Michigan to Texas..and was having my first child…so wasn’t exactlly paying as much attention as I should have to Bruce at the time. So I was never able to really get this download. Specially since I’m originally from the Detroit area would be a nice addition to my collection.
Hopefully Si can find this so we can share it in the intended manner again.

ParticipantI listened to this and I would love to have it.
I don’t support entities such as Rhapsody as I don’t get music from them so I wouldn’t buy this unless I couldn’t find it else where.
I definitely missed the freebie given out a few years back.
I do think its pretty cool that this was recorded in Rick Carlisle’s living room. Its a nice little set Bruce busted out for his cronies.Yeah Si, any help finding a copy of this intimate set would be awesome!
