Okay, look. I need to set the record straight here before somebody gets any wrong ideas about me………..

…….however, any time I have to deal with Dreadlock Dave, I HAVE to have a couple, just to get mellow enough not to smack him around….

The second meet-up will be at the venue and will start when the gates open at 6:30. A picnic on the green! Jackie has taken charge of the picnic and you will be hearing more from her! Food and coolers are allowed, but beer and wine must be purchased at the venue. Stay tuned! Don’t touch that dial! :) More to come on this!…..

Soo…..You are on three meds now??? :)……

Honey, I WISH it were only three meds. I take 2 drugs for rheumatoid arthritis, 1 for osteoarthritis, 1 for early stage liver disease (caused by RA drugs, NOT alcohol), 2 for depression, 1 for bipolar disorder, 1 for anxiety, 1 for a thyroid condition, 2 to fight the fatigue of RA, 2 for side effects from bariatric surgery, 1 for edema caused by low protein levels, one for extreme anemia and B12 deficiency, and antihistamines for chronic allergies. Not to mention cortisone shots, prednisone tapers, and Vicodin whenever I have major flare-ups of the RA and can’t bend my joints. NOW you can understand why I occasionally disappear from the Board. AND why I need my couple of drinks with my SiBs and BiBs at my yearly concert forays. Because of liver, that’s all I’m allowed, and I can’t think of any other group of people I’d rather share them with!

It’s Hell getting old. I don’t recommend it to anyone. Although I am sometimes tempted to WISH it upon a certain pseudo-Rastafarian we all know!!!!!!

Just kidding you know…I have enough of my own pharmacy as you know. So with ya there. Hope you have good days ahead though. Sending out a card for you this week, and I can’t believe I have actually only 9 more days till we leave Texas!

So funny! Sorta reminds me of my grandmother, may her sweet soul rest in peace! Always talking about her meds! :)

No packing required here! The tires are rotated, the oil is changed, had my ‘monthly bath’ in the lake, shorts on, barefoot, with tooth brush in hand! :) Soo much stress!!! Do I have to wear a shirt to this??? Soo much stress!!! :) No meds here! Does a beer or two count as meds? :)…..

Is anyone coming in on Friday???

    Hi everyone!

I know we’re all getting “fired up” (as David would say) about the first ever double Bruuuce.com Board meetup. I’ve gladly accepted the assignment of organizing the picnic festivities. The venue gates open at 6:30-that is the start time for this meetup. So unearth those quilts, blankets or picnic cloths out of storage and we’ll get the party started!

We will need to know approximately how many people will be at the picnic meetup so everyone will know how much food to bring.

There are 3 options for the picnic:

    1) Each person attending brings food items (main dish, side dish ,dessert) or beverages or ice or paper products (cups, plates, napkins, plastic ware)-in other words-a traditional picnic. Remember food, coolers and unopened drinks are allowed. Beer & wine must be purchased at the venue.

    2) Catered food items, beer, wine, etc may be purchased at the venue.

    3) A combination of the first 2 options.

Which option sounds best to you all?

The big day is getting close,so if we want to have the old-fashioned picnic, please let me know who is bringing which item(s) soon.

Have I forgotten anything ? If anyone has suggestions for this event,I’m happy to receive them.

    See you all in Raleigh!

I was soo very disappointed that the venue would not me allow me to bring a very small ‘tailgate’ grill and do a grill of shrimp, jerk, burgers, brats asparagus and corn! :(……

Not to worry Monica! All plans revolve around the lady from Texas! If you come all this way, ‘southern hospitality’ and being ‘kid friendly’, has been considered by all and is top priority! Don’t worry, be happy! Just come!!! Who knows…..You might like it!!! :)…..

    David is right,Monica!

Just bring yourself & your family-we”locals”will take care of everything. :D

Speaking of taking care of things, since the meetup has become an intimate affair, it looks like our best option for food & drink will be to purchase it from the venue. If anyone wants to bring a dessert to share, that would be fine.

    See you all next Saturday!

Oh, man! And here I was ready to make a Hursey’s Barbeque run on my way out of town!!! I was going to store it at my son’s house in Cary on Friday, then stop by there on the way to the meet up, heat up stuff, pack the coolers, and treat the out-of-towers to a REAL North Carolina spread. Ah well, I’ll just go with the flow. I WILL be supplying plenty of Sweet Tea, though — aka The House Wine Of The South.

It WOULD be nice to get a head count, though. I just MIGHT have some fun goodies to give out!

Here’s who I’ve come up with so far:
    –MVF
–Monica, Mr. Layer, Junior, and Princess Abigail
–Treah (will there be others with you?? You know they are always welcome, too)
    –HDBann (any others?)
–Dreadlock Dave (and your usual +1?)

Okay, I know that I’ve already left out some people. Please forgive me, and post your name on here. And remember, we ALWAYS welcome new SiBs and BiBs (Sisters in Bruce and Brothers in Bruce).

A big thanks to David, Jackie and MVF…looking forward to seeing you all. We are leaving Texas on Thursday morning, so should arrive on Friday afternoon.

MVF are we still planning on the motel situation. Send me a private message or text or email, what ever works.

So many last minute things I have to do this week. So don’t mind if my chatting seems a bit scattered. I’m always nervous before a trip.

But will be so worth it when I get there!!

You should still make that Hursey’s run! What a great place! On the NC ‘barbecue trail’! Will be more than happy to help with expenses if you do that! What else would be needed besides paper goods, plastic wares, trash bags, etc.?…… I’m sure desserts are already covered!

Saturday will be a very long road trip for me, but have every intention to make the 4:00 meet-up as well!

Okay, then, I’ll make it official. I’ll take orders right up until 9:00am Friday. Dinner will include Barbeque, buns, coleslaw, sweet tea, and hush puppies, or their infamous Brunswick Stew, sweet tea, and hush puppies. $5.00 a person should cover everything, including transportation and importation fees, plus storage costs at my son’s house. Just respond on this site if you are interested. Oh, and I guess I need to make this clear. We are talking EASTERN North Carolina ‘que. I’ll pack along some sauce and Texas Pete for the uninitiated.

Better get in my orders now, count 4 for Barbeque…hubby loves Franks Hot sauce to be exact. Personally I’m into sweet, brown sugar or honey BBQ….but I’ll try something new..guess you’ll have to initiate me on NC BBQ.

Speaking of barbeque, has anyone heard from Mary aka SMP recently?

No, I haven’t. Hope everything is okay. But then, I tend to disappear from the Board often (health issues), so maybe we will hear from her soon.
