Almost 5am on Thursday….the Texas crew has left the building. Will contact MVF when we get close! So excited I didn’t get much sleep, but I’m sure riding in the car and listening to my Ipod (full of Bruce music), will put me back to sleep!

Okay, here’s the head count I have for the picnic at the amphitheater Saturday at 6:30:
Monica – 4
Teresa – 1
Jackie – 1
David – either 1 or 0
HDBahn – I know you told me already, but like I said on the phone, I’ve been sick as a dog for a couple of days, and have trouble knowing what was fact and what was hallucination.Who have I left out?
Anybody else?I will bring extra, just in case. I will be bringing BBQ, buns, slaw, hush puppies, Brunswick stew (an indulgence on my part), and sweet tea. From what I understand, Jackie will bring paper products, as well as her world-famous peach cobbler. Monica is supplying cookies. And, hey, dinner is on me. It’s the least I can do for all these wonderful people who have been SO very kind to me.
So if you want to join in, just let me know. I have to know how much BBQ to bring. Heaven forbid we don’t have enough!!!!! And by all means, if you have extra people with you, invite them along. We’ll feed them and then make converts out of them!!!!!!
Don’t forget to bring a blanket or something to sit on. This is, after all, an old-fashioned picnic! Hey, David, you can bring the ants!!!!!

Unfortunately,I won’t be able to make the Rudino’s meetup,but I’ll definitely be there for the ‘”BBQ Feast.”

Greetings ! Leslyethor(LT) finally checking in. I’ll be trekking Tobacco Road to Raleigh Saturday. 4 meet up doubtful , but will likely make the 6:30 picnic!! I think we actually may have a day that it doesn’t rain!!!!

Yes, I AM in the room next door with both kidlings. We have been up to all sorts of mischief! Don’t tell Monica, but we have already eaten ALL the cookies and all three of us are bouncing on the beds, watching Cartoon Network. Thinking of having “go-go juice” later on. You know what? I really needed this “kid fix”. Man, I miss being in the classroom! We are all having a ball — much more fun than Monica and her hubby are having next door

The “Rainstorm of 1.000 Clouds” interrupted the meet-up.
But I think everyone got to say hello to each other & the concert took place without further complications.
Oh, yeah! Oh, yeah! That little ole rain cloud (that lasted for an hour and made national news) may have interrupted the meet up a bit (but we DID save the peach cobbler!), but it didn’t dampen the spirit of the concert one bit! SO glad to see ole Dreadlock Dave there! We actually had some pretty good ” hangin’ out time together!
Well, still playing nanny to the kidlings from Texas — they are asleep, and I should be, too. Will post more tomorrow when I am more coherent.

And a good time was had by all …….
And what a great bunch of “all” there was in Raleigh last night. Let’s see if the ole memory is still working ….. well, I was there, along with my roommates Junior and Abby, plus Monica and her husband John. Ran into Virginia while in line (and picked up a NEW friend who also remembers seeing Bruce playing clubs around Tidewater Virginia, way, WAY back when). Jackie and the peach cobbler made it before the rain did …. barely. HDBahn had called me around 3:45 to say that he was already there, and the sound check was getting ready to start, although I didn’t actually SEE him again until right before the show.
After waiting out the nearly hour-long rain, then numerous trips up and down the hill to put away the now-water-logged picnic, little ole MVF was in sore need of some liquid relaxant. Ran into Jackie again at the “spirits” tent, when I heard ……… a very distinctive ……… Georgia drawl, inquiring about the wares. DAVID!!!!! There was much hugging and chattering amongst us all, especially when the rain decided to return about that time. We quickly made friends with the sommeliers under the tent, and rode it out there.
FINALLY it quit raining for good, and everyone in General Admission went back to claim their original seats. Many, us included, found squatters had taken our spots, in spite of personal belongings left to hold them. Well …. since it was bleachers-style seating, the shy, introverted MVF sat her considerable backside down beside the guy. I explained the problem, as nicely as I could. Then he explained, nicely, why he still wasn’t going to move. Well, we COULD have reenacted the fight scene from that first Biltmore House concert, but instead I just slowly kept moving over, up against him (no cheap thrills there). He would move down, since I suppose he didn’t like being THAT close to me (go figure!), and then I’d move closer still. Didn’t take long to get our spots back.
Of course, it really was for aught, because, face it, none of our group has ever SAT at a Bruuuuce concert, have they?????? I know that I took my place at the left-hand side of the stage, by Bruce, and HDBahn took his customary spot at the right-hand of the stage with JT. Monica, hubby and kidlings were right up there with me, and good ole Dreadlock Dave and companion were right behind me. This way, DD and I could voice our comments, observations, and witty conversation without having Bruce stop the show and look at us (reference the Greenville/Spartenburg solo concert from many years back). Leslie was up there with us. I know there were a couple of other Board people I ran into, but by that time, I had pretty much killed off over half that bottle of Shiraz and I just can’t place you now.
So, by my count, that was at LEAST 11 Board-related people there. Hey Si, is there a record for the number of us at a concert? If not, I declare this a record number, to be beat at some later date.

Most Vigilant FanUPDATE – DD says I need to add 8 more to the count, so that makes it at least 19 Board fans in attendance. If anyone wants me to add to that total, let me know!!!

MVF, you need to add 8 more to your list as well! It was great to see everyone! What a great song selection! During Mandolin Rain, MVF looks back and asks ‘Black Muddy River as well?’ I tell MVF just to ask and Bruce probably will! MVF shyly shouts out ‘Black Muddy River!’ Bruce looks at MVF, nods his head and goes right into it! …..An all-time record? Let’s see… I can recall maybe ten or so in Tennessee several years ago – the only time that I’ve ran into DD.
And then maybe the Millennium Bash pre-show meal – the evidence would suggest at least 16 (click on the pic to enlarge).
Sounds like you all had a blast!
