ParticipantThere’s a cool new feature on the “official” site – it’s a collage of some of the requests Bruce gets at the concerts:
http://www.brucehornsby.com/collage-1.htm
(the certificate in the bottom right-hand corner is mine!)
Any others you recognize?December 15, 2006 at 10:04 am #27266bryandunn
ParticipantI hear there are more of these to post…so keep an eye out for other pages as these are put up on the site…and that was a nice certificate (laminated). You’re very creative! Did you laminate it or did Bruce have that done?

Pretty inventive, Allisa! I’m going to have to up my “request game” to make this new page!
Thanks for putting them up, Bryan. I loved the one printed in the Intersections booklet that said something like, “God has sent me to ask you to play ‘King of the Hill.'”

ParticipantI laminated it. Actually, I was never even sure he got it! I took it with me to the concert at the Seattle zoo in July, 2005 to put up on stage, but security wasn’t letting anyone near it. I gave it to one of the security guards, along with some other requests, and asked her to take them up for me and I saw her go around behind the stage, but I wasn’t sure where they ended up.
The text is loosely based on a resolution passed by the Idaho State Legislature in 2005 commending Jared and Jerusha Hess and the City of Preston for the production of the movie “Napoleon Dynamite.”

ParticipantHe got it…it’s very creative and still looks great (I’m looking at it now!). I hope to get another batch … whenever I get them (it is the holiday season, and I trust even Bruce will take some time off). Glad you liked the collage…it was fun putting it together.

ParticipantAllisa,
I am just now getting around to letting you know that I LOVE your request. You eloquently(and creatively) put into words how I feel. I wish Bruce would get a request like this at every show.

ParticipantThank you very much, treah! Maybe I should make it available as a pdf and then people can start putting them on stage all over the country – wouldn’t that be a hoot!

ParticipantAllisa,
That’s a great idea! When I first saw your request, I was thinking more along the lines of putting it on a poster, t-shirt, etc. – but your concept is much cooler!Jackie

KeymasterBryan –
Is this the first time you’ve let on to the people that you’re actually the guy who maintains Bruce’s official website?!
And a fine job you do, too!
February 3, 2007 at 7:14 pm #27275bryandunn
ParticipantThanks for the kind words, Si – you are the one who deserves all the praise! The fan site ROCKS! I’m glad you like the site – and you well know my hat’s off to you with this site, JV’s site, and a host of other things you do (I still have a dinner waiting for you to claim over here…)!
February 3, 2007 at 9:12 pm #27276Allisa
ParticipantBryan and Si both ROCK!
and…I must be on a roll here: another of my requests made it into the new collage! It’s the big, purple Song H request in the bottom right corner put on stage in Seattle on 10/18/06.
February 4, 2007 at 12:22 pm #27277bryandunn
ParticipantFinally – another set of collage requests are posted – http://www.brucehornsby.com/collage-3.htm – let’s see if Allissa has another request in this batch (and that’s all I have for now, will post more when I receive them!).

ParticipantBryan- I love the collage.
The certificate is perfect, Allisa.
And thanks Si I love this site!
I went to the sensational show at B.B. Kings in NYC last month, it’s a great venue, it’s warm and intimate and I had loads of fun getting to know some other fans sitting at our table.
Paul Thorn, Shawn Colvin, Bruce, Ricky and Kentucky Thunder were at their best!
I put the request for the “The Dreaded Spoon”, on a gift I bought Bruce called the sneaky spoon, (a spoon that telescopically extends to a length of 21″”) I took it up to the stage but I forgot??? to take it out of the shopping bag I was carrying it in, so needless to say he couldn’t take the time to open it during the show. But they did start with that song!
My idea may have been a bit silly, but I thought it was the perfect accompaniment to the song! I adore Bruce’s story about “The Dreaded Spoon”.February 5, 2007 at 7:03 pm #27279Victor
ParticipantLove the Sneaky Spoon
The Sneaky Spoon is a perfect way to request The Dreaded Spoon! Love it!

ParticipantWell…. This was an old request, but since I’m old, too, it’s the best I can do….
At the last Charlotte show (Ovens Aud.), I put on the stage a teddy bear wearing a b-ball uniform, with a note that said “Please let Teresa dance on stage”. Not only did he get it, he read the note out loud AND joked that maybe I should just come on up and dance before the show.
That was the same show where, as always, about a third of the way through the show, Bruce says something like…”I know there are some people out there who are wondering what the h*ll we’re playing up here”. So, being the smart *** that I am, I yelled out “The Way It Is”. He picked up on it, and started joking around. Then I yelled out “Freebird!”. Bruce said, “Oh, that just ruined it”, but then proceeded to play the first few lines of “The Way It Is” to the tune of “Freebird”.
Now, you don’t just hear that at any old concert!!!!

ParticipantAmazing!! My son’s note to Bruce is on the first collage set, smack-dab in the middle …That was from the solo show at The Egg in Albany, NY last November..
VERY nice touch by “Intersections” to do that. It’s made my son’s day knowing something he created is on the Internet for all to see…
Ya’ gotta love Bruce..
February 8, 2007 at 12:26 am #27282Allisa
ParticipantNone of mine in the 3rd batch, but 2 out of 3 ain’t bad!

ParticipantAnd another collage is up for your review – see if yours is there (May-July 2007 I believe…).
July 26, 2007 at 3:02 pm #27285Victor
ParticipantAlways appreciate seeing these, Bryan! It’s almost become Bruce’s trademark now.
July 27, 2007 at 9:34 am #27286Jonathan
ParticipantHahaha! Loved the one that says Mythbusters want their host back. 😆
September 6, 2007 at 8:37 am #27287Miss Virginia Former
ParticipantHey, where’s my basketball-wearing Teddy Bear from the Charlotte concert with the necktag that read “Please let Teresa dance on stage”? I know he saw it, because he read it out loud on stage, and after the concert, even asked me if the Bear had been mine 😆
I won’t even ASK about the status of my request for “Down the Road Tonight”, made circa 1989-1990 at William & Mary Hall. Betch THAT one didn’t get laminated!!!!
Had they even invented laminating back then??? Or (you veteran teachers will know this) did we just run purple copies on the old Riso machine, then cover them with clear Contact paper 🙄
MAN, is it good to be back home where I belong!!!!!!
April 19, 2008 at 9:29 am #27288bryandunn
ParticipantPosted another new set – enjoy!
June 16, 2008 at 7:37 pm #27289bryandunn
ParticipantAnd another new set…even though there are only 3 requests that were sent, I gotta say I like them!
