ParticipantRoad Scholars start your engines!
Who is going to be Road Scholar of the Year for 2007?
:
To be Road Scholar of the Year, you need to be highly esteemed by all road scholars, to explore remote places trying to find unfound shortcuts not shown on mapquest, to report on assorted journeys, shows, songlists and thoughts to other road scholars, to help organize meetups near venues, to practice two hand independence on the dash while driving and be looked upon as a true fan by the Bruce Nation.
Who is it going be to this year?
:
Post your guess here!

ParticipantHmmm…So far, I would have to cast my vote for carey. Or should we wait until the 2007 tour is over before the votes are tallied?
On a somewhat different note, I nominate gdwoman for a Road Scholar (More Than) Honorable Mention just for using the following:

On a somewhat different note, I nominate gdwoman for a Road Scholar.Let it now be know by the powers vested in me, by me ( 😆 ), that I herebye declare and decree that gdwoman is a fully stipened Road Scholar. You are now granted and bestowed all rights and privileges of membership into the elite society of Road Scholars!
No need for nominations yet for Road Scholar of the Year ‘2007. Just post your best guess. I feel there is someone who is going to give carey a run for her money!
Is it gdwoman? Is it Sunflowercat? Is it MVF? Is it Vic? Is it LolaPolusa? Is it me? Is it someone you don’t know about?

ParticipantIt’s time!
Who will be the Road Scholar of the Year for ‘2007?
:
Will it be Carey again? Will it be LolaPulsa? Will it be Kat? Will it be gdwoman? Will it be Allisa, Vic, MVF, Treah or even me? 😆
I have a feeling that there is someone out there that can be crowned the new King (or Queen) of the Hill for ‘2007. In fact, I met a lady at Guilford that had many very impressive road trips!
I hope that she will repsond to the forum (finally) and report in and I hope that you will too!
Let us know the number of shows you went to in ‘2007, the approximate number of miles driven and the number of states you had to drive thru to get to those shows.
To refresh your memory, sitting in an airplane, drinking a cocktail and being waited on to get to a show does not count! 😆
Don’t be bashful! It’s time for all Road Scholars to report in!
I’ll go first. I only made it to two shows this year, traveled about 600 miles in 3 states. 😳 Not a stellar year for me. 😆
Calling all Road Scholars! Let us hear your stories!
It’s time!

ParticipantRe: Road Scholar of the Year 2007!
Alas, only Boone for me. I didn’t make it to Jamestown, Raleigh, Greensboro or Asheville. Crazy year. I’ll try to do better in the future!
EDIT: Oops, I forgot: the CMT Crossroads taping in Nashville was in January. Makes me feel better that I made it to two shows, at least.

ParticipantStay tuned! Road Scholar of the Year ‘2007 will be announced soon! In fact, by popular demand, starting this year a runner up will be awarded also!
I’m currently busy with my computer, mapquest, state maps, surveys I borrowed from Allisa 😆 and pencils I borrowed from Rich 😆 laying out routes and calculating miles. The results will be audited by the CPA firm of Bruce, Bruuce & Bruuuce for accuracy. 😆
Stay tuned! You don’t want to miss it!

After many hours of computations and calculations, wearing the pencils out I permanently borrowed from Rich down to the nub, the results have been turned over to the CPA firm of Bruce, Bruuce & Bruuuce for verification and accuracy! 😆
Stay tuned! You don’t want to miss it!

The ‘2007 Road Scholar of the Year!
Envelope please!
a-hmm!(throat clearing 😆 )
I would like to thank the CPA firm of Bruce, Bruuce and Bruuuce! 😆 Without their help and support, none of this would be possible!
The ‘2007 Road Scholar of the Year goes to!…..For the second year running (no pun intended 😆 ),Carey Wilhelm!
“Nodin mor neds to be sa!” 😆 (Nothing more needs to be said!) That does say it all!
If I can count correctly 😆 , ‘2007 should put Carey if not over, but close to 300 shows!
That’s outstanding!
The runner-up and ‘2007 “Road Warrior” of the Year goes to a newcomer!
Even though the number of shows were equivalent to other Road Scholars, the distance to travel to those shows were noteworthy!
The ‘2007 Road Warrior of the Year goes to!…..From Texas (all my ex-es live in TX 😆 ), babytweety2yo!
Monica, that was some outstanding mileage to get to a show!
It takes a true Brucehead to do what you did!
For Carey and Monica, whenever our paths cross at a meetup, dinner and drinks for you and a friend are always on me.

Some final thoughts!…..
The qualifications for Road Warrior of the Year needs to be clarified in another writing. You don’t want to miss it! 😆
Congratulations Monica! You just set the standard!
I knew Texas was big, but I didn’t know it was that big! 😆 😳
Lastly, even though being Road Warrior of the Year will be a distinct honor, the ultimate goal will remain to be called to the hollowed status of Road Scholar. In another post, Vic listed all the current Road Scholars! 😆 That list remains the same! 😆

Maybe, just maybe, we need for Vic to “check in” and give us a review session of who that may be! 😆

ParticipantTold you the sheriff was back in town…..
I’m sorry to hear that the honor of being named a Road Scholar or a Road Warrior is a “hollow” honor. Mr. Day, I believe, might meant to have said “hallowed”…….
Or maybe it IS a hollow victory. I wouldn’t know, since I have been reduced to two shows a year(geez, I wish teachers made more money), and will NEVER be in the same league as these inductees.
Sorry to be a pain in the rear, dear David, but things like that are my one pet peeve (ask me how I did in Spelling Bees, no, go ahead, ask).
