“Shadow Hand” is a personal favorite. I like the studio version from Spirit Trail as well as the solo piano version. Pardon me if this has been discussed before. I can’t help but notice what sounds like a Pete Townsend “Let My Love Open the Door” influence on the studio version, especially at the beginning. Does anyone else notice this too? Has Bruce ever mentioned a Pete Townsend/Who influence?
I’ve never seen it mentioned in any interview I’ve seen, but it is hard to believe a great writer form one generation could not be influenced by a great writer from the previous generation.
fantastic song (and pete’s song is a class too). never thought of “Let my love…” but i can see where that statement comes from. personally i really dig live versions of Shadow Hand, the box set has a nice one.

I’m showing my age, but back in the sixties when you wanted more than the Beatles, Rolling Stones, Herman Hermits and the like, you turned to The Who, Yes, and later to Pink Floyd and an American band that brought some jazz influence into music named Steely Dan. Did someone say Steely Dan?
